Rite Aid and The Rite Aid Foundation have announced that more than 550 medication disposal units across the nation are now searchable on Google Maps, making it easier for people to safely dispose of unneeded or unwanted medications. To find a safe medication disposal unit in a Rite Aid store or a KidCents Safe Medication Disposal Unit in a local police station or law enforcement agency, users can search on Google (including Google Maps on a browser or mobile device) for “medication disposal near me.” Google will show results with the closest Rite Aid medication disposal units for people to safely dispose of their unwanted prescription drugs. The partnership with Google is one of several initiatives Rite Aid has implemented as part of its comprehensive strategy to

address prescription drug abuse and misuse. In 2017, The Rite Aid Foundation launched the KidCents Safe Medication Disposal program. The program provides law enforcement agencies in communities served by Rite Aid with free medication disposal units for individuals to safely dispose of expired or unwanted medications. Since its launch, the program has expanded to 18 states. To date, the foundation has partnered with more than 400 law enforcement agencies to make more than 450 units available to customers and communities. In 2018, Rite Aid announced plans to install 100 medication disposal units in stores across the country. In addition to medication disposal units, The Rite Aid Foundation’s KidCents program has made a multi-year commitment to the Prescription Drug Safety

Giant introduced Giant Direct earlier this year to accelerate the company’s e-commerce strategy. In February, the company opened a 38,000-square-foot Giant Direct e-commerce hub in Lancaster that serves as a central shipping location for online delivery orders in the region. The hub also permits customers to place orders on-site via electronic tablets allowing for pedestrian pickup as well as the traditional car curbside pickup. The e-commerce effort has continued over the past five months, as Giant has added Giant Direct to stores across its network. Giant Direct provides customers with a wide assortment of products with the same quality and service available from local Giant stores and Martin’s Food Markets, now combined with the technology of Peapod.

York Traditions Bank was named Outstanding Business of the Year by Leadership York. During Leadership York’s program graduation event on May 22, Peter Ruth (left), Leadership York board president, congratulated York Traditions Bank representatives Patti Martin (center), director of human resources and organization development, and Brad Willow (right), managing director, personal and signature banking. Leadership York presented York Traditions Bank with the 2019 Outstanding Business of the Year award in recognition of the bank’s commitment to leadership development and community involvement. York Traditions Bank provides ongoing support of, and involvement in, organizations such as Leadership York, York Young Professionals, United Way Emerging Leaders, and others. To choose Leadership York’s Outstanding Business of the Year, a task force meets to review a short list of local companies and organizations that encourage community engagement and philanthropy. Preference is given to those companies that sponsor employees’ enrollment in Leadership York programs. Leadership York’s mission is to train, connect, and inspire individuals to serve the York community in leadership positions. The organization was founded in 1978 and boasts more than 3,800 graduates from its six programs. Those graduates provide

leadership to more than 250 nonprofit organizations and serve thousands of constituents in state and local government. For more information, readers may visit leadershipyork.org.
