The Ma & Pa Railroad Preservation Society will host Fall Foliage Train Rides through the southeastern York County countryside. Participants will be able to ride a section of the rail line that has not been seen in public operations for more than a decade. The opportunity is a result of flooding that devastated parts of the north end of the rail line. A crew of society volunteers spent a full week doing track repair work to prepare to run October trains south of the Muddy Creek Forks station. Trains will be in operation from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 13 and 20, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays, Oct. 14 and 21. Excursions will begin each hour. Separate ticket prices have been for adults and for children. To ensure seats for a preferred train time, readers may order tickets in advance at www.MaAnd PaRailroad.com. Online ticket sales will close for the day at 6 a.m. Same-day tickets may be purchased at the station. Visitors may also visit the general store, mill, and grain elevator. Costumed docents will be stationed at these structures to answer questions. The museum highlights the central role the railroad played in every aspect of life in the early 20th century. Admission is free to the historic village and buildings. The Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village is located at 1258 Muddy Creek Forks Road, Airville.
