And since it is connected to WellSpan’s electronic health record (EHR), clinicians can use the app data to monitor patient symptoms and side effects. WellSpan and the other recipients were honored at the ACCC 36th National Oncology Conference, held Oct. 30 through Nov. 1 in Orlando, Fla. This year’s honorees shared innovative strategies and lessons learned from their own experience to enable others to model and scale similar initiatives. Now in its ninth year, the Innovator

An education and advocacy organization for the cancer care community that was founded in 1974, ACCC is a network of 25,000 multidisciplinary practitioners from 2,100 hospitals and practices nationwide. The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) has honored WellSpan Cancer Centers of York as one of the recipients of its 2019 Innovator Awards for its achievements in oncology care. WellSpan Cancer Centers was honored for developing and implementing a radiation oncology app to improve the patient experience. Dissatisfied with the limited support in patient education materials, the WellSpan Oncology Service Line developed a mobile app to offer its radiation oncology patients on-demand access to treatment- and disease-specific education. The app incorporates patient appointment and treatment schedules, a

photo of the child’s work and the child holding it and post it to Facebook or Instagram, being sure to tag @givelocalyork and use the hashtag #givelocalyork. Photos may also be emailed to meagan@givelocalyork.org. Give Local York will share on its social media pages and spread the word about being charitable on Dec. 3 and possibly throughout the Give Local York campaign.

The purpose of the volunteer project is to encourage families to join in the fun of being philanthropic and to teach their children about generosity and charitable giving. Additionally, as people sign up to take part, Give Local York will receive credit, which may result in the organization receiving Walt Disney World tickets to award as prizes during Give Local York.

White Rose No-Show Non-Gala Set The White Rose Leadership Institute is planning an upcoming fundraiser, the White Rose No-Show Non-Gala, on Sunday, Dec. 1. The White Rose Leadership Institute is the newly formed organization behind York County’s big day of giving, Give Local York, as well as the York Federal Fellows program, which supports York County nonprofit leaders. The non-gala is scheduled six months in advance of Give Local York 2020. The idea behind the White Rose NoShow Non-Gala is to fundraise without incurring the costs associated with hosting a gala.
