South Central York County Senior Center, 150 E. Main St., New Freedom, has posted its upcoming activities. The center serves a hot lunch on weekdays at 11:30 a.m. Members are encouraged to arrive at 11:20 a.m. Seniors must be members of the center to participate in the activities. Anyone age 60 or over who lives in York County is eligible to become a member of the center. To become a member, participants should bring a driver’s license or photo identification to the senior center. For more information, readers may call the center at 717-235-6060. For members who no longer drive or do not have transportation, the senior center can arrange transportation to and from the center via rabbittransit. The service is available for free for anyone age 60 and over. A quilters group meets every other Wednesday at 9 a.m. to work on lap robes for veterans and other projects. Senior center members may gather to knit and crochet hats for Coats of Friendship. Yarn will be provided. Each month, the center offers a movie and popcorn. On Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., a nurse visits to conduct blood pressure checks. The senior center needs volunteers to deliver meals to seniors. Interested volunteers should call the center. Participants will volunteer one morning every four weeks. The Meals on Wheels program delivers more than 50 meals to seniors on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The center also has cookbooks available for sale. The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program will offer a free tax service for people of all ages, especially those age 50 and older. The service is free, and AARP membership is not required. Taxpayers should bring photo identification and proof of the Social Security or ITIN numbers for everyone on the tax return, including dependents. Bringing last year’s tax return, if available, is also helpful. TaxAide volunteers are able to prepare most personal income tax returns, including those with basic self-employment income. They are not trained to do business returns, such as corporate, partnership, limited partnership, farm income, or rental income. Apple Automotive Purchases Hanover Honda York-based Apple Automotive Group recently purchased Hanover Honda, located at 1226 Carlisle St., Hanover. Christopher Sechrist, Apple Automotive president, said the acquisition will allow the company to expand its customer base and provide more opportunity to better service existing customers in the greater Hanover market. Apple Automotive already has a significant customer base in the Hanover area, through ownership of the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealership and an Apple Collision Center facility. Apple also owns a second Honda dealership, located in the Apple Auto Park in western York, which is currently undergoing a significant expansion into a new facility.
