The Central Penn Business Group on Health (CPBGH) has entered into a partnership with AblePay Health to offer its members a unique program for diffusing the costs of health care. AblePay Health, located in Bethlehem, is a health care consumer company that assists its members with discounts (up to 13%) and flexible payment terms on deductible and coinsurance expenses. AblePay has agreements with Penn Medicine-Lancaster General Health (LGH), the St. Luke’s University Health Network (SLUHN), Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), and Main Line Health (MLH) that allows it to provide convenient payment options for its members. The CPBGH was originally founded in 1984 as the Lancaster County Business Group on Health by a group of employers concerned about the cost and quality of health care benefits. In 2017, the board of directors voted to expand the group’s reach and change its name to the Central Penn Business Group on Health. The group now focuses on serving employers based in Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York counties. For more information, readers may visit www.cpbgh.org.

Chemo Comfie Work Day Planned The annual Chemo Comfie volunteer work day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Airville Volunteer Fire Company, 3576 Delta Road, Airville. Chemo Comfies (or Cancer Comfies) are fleece tie blankets that are made and hand-tied by volunteers to support individuals who were recently diagnosed with cancer, patients who are currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatments, and those who are in hospice or palliative care. The comfies will support cancer patients throughout the area, including hospice patients at York’s Pappus House. Youth and infant blankets will be donated to pediatric cancer patients. The blankets are made in a variety of colors, prints, and sizes. No sewing is required, and no previous experience with making the blankets is necessary to participate. The comfies were started as a legacy of love in memory of a former cancer patient by his family. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until all the blankets are completed. Volunteers may arrive when they

can and stay as long as they would like. Sandwiches and beverages will be provided. Attendees may bring a snack or dessert to share. Participants should also bring scissors, cutting mats, and rotary cutters if they have them. Adult-size comfies required 4 yards of fleece per blanket (2 yards of a print and 2 yards of a matching/coordinating solid color). Youth- and infant-size blankets require 3 yards of fleece per blanket (1.5 yards of a print and 1.5 yards of a matching/coordinating solid color). Community members who are not able to attend but would like to assist with the project may contribute monetary donations, which will be used to purchase fleece for the event. Individuals may also donate fleece. Participants may tag blankets with a message of support for the recipient, either in honor of a survivor or in memory of a loved one. Those who would like more information or who would like to participate in the event may contact Missy at 717-324-5755 or mstarner2@yahoo.com.
