To make it easier for customers to find products that have been grown or produced in Pennsylvania, Giant Food Stores has introduced PA Preferred shelf tags at all of its 156 stores located within Pennsylvania. PA Preferred is the official brand of food and agricultural products grown, produced, or processed in Pennsylvania. Giant has supported the program, which is designed to help the state’s farmers and food suppliers grow their businesses, since its inception in 2004. Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding recently joined Giant vice president and chief marketing officer Matt Simon at a press conference in Camp Hill to unveil the shelf tag program. More than 900 items, including meat, poultry, dairy, snacks, condiments, sauces, and even pet food, are now identified by tags with the PA Preferred logo displayed at the shelf level, helping customers to identify Pennsylvania products. The PA Preferred shelf tags will be displayed in stores year-round. With the arrival of the local produce season in its stores, Giant also plans to recognize

Sophomore Luke Hoffman was crowned a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) champion in the discus at PSACs on May 10, and that helped him earn the 2019 Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Ten members of the track and field programs at Kutztown University (KU), Kutztown, including Hoffman, also earned All-Atlantic Region status.

To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top five individuals in their event in their respective region. Hoffman threw a personalbest 56.80m (186-4) at the championship event, which is a new meet record, and improved upon the KU and PSAC record that he already held. He is ranked fourth nationally in the discus. It is the second regional honor for Hoffman.
