Spring Grove Regional Parks and Recreation Center will present a familyfriendly Pumpkin Trail on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Little Creek Golf Course and the future community park in the front nine and clubhouse area. The golf course is located along Route 116 in Spring Grove. The inaugural event will feature food, music, storytelling, face painting, a Trunk or Treat, mums, pumpkins and more. Attendees will also be able to walk the
Pumpkin Trail. There is a nominal requested donation. Free parking and shuttle service will be provided from Spring Forge Shopping Center, Sacred Heart Church, Nashville Firehouse, and Glatfelter Memorial Library parking lots from 5:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Pets and alcohol will not be permitted. In the case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 28.
September House, 1251 W. King St., York, has posted its upcoming schedule of activities. Attendees are invited to dress up for Halloween on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Public cash bingo will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m., and a special low-cost meal or snacks will provided before the event. The senior center will hand out treats for trick-or-treaters from 6 to 8 p.m. The senior center delivers meals to homebound seniors on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and is need of volunteers to help with deliveries. Routes are within a few miles of the center, and a commitment of one to two hours is required. Daily workouts will be offered from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial arts program, will be taught by a certified teacher on Mondays and
Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. A study group for those interested in obtaining their ham (amateur) radio operator’s license will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m. The senior center also offers cards and games throughout the week. Pinochle is played every Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. Chess is played on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the bridge club meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. The center is also adding a group for shuffleboard on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and the group is looking for additional players. All are welcome to play or watch. Board games, cards, and jigsaw puzzles are also available for everyone to enjoy. In addition, wood burning classes and workshops are held on the first and third Fridays.

Haas is a Juilliard School graduate who is accomplished in a broad array of fiddle genres in addition to her classical training. Theater Will Reopen Doors The Appell Center for the Performing Arts will reopen York’s historic Capitol Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 24, following a six-month, $2 million interior renovation. The Appell Center will celebrate the occasion with more than two weeks of nonstop entertainment plus the reveal of a new, large-scale exterior Appell Center sign. The community is invited to gather at the northeast corner of Philadelphia and North George streets at 6:05 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, to witness the sign’s unveiling prior to the evening’s sold-out performance by Bruce Hornsby. In addition to the new exterior beacon, Capitol Theatre patrons can anticipate changes in the 450-seat theater. Highlights include new seating and restrooms, improved sightlines and concessions areas, and the latest in film projector and audio technology. The Capitol Theatre grand reopening will feature entertainment, including live music, comedy, film, family-friendly programming, and free community events. Tony Schweitzer (center), Bell Socialization Services Inc. executive director, and Marcella Kinard (right), Bell’s director of shelter services, accepted a $10,000 check from Anthony Campisi, Arthur J. & Lee R. Glatfelter Foundation president and president and CEO of Glatfelter Insurance Group. Campisi also toured the Bell Family Shelter and talked about its services with Schweitzer and Kinard. The donation will be used to update the facility’s commercial-grade refrigerator, freezer, and range. On any given day, upwards of 35 people, approximately half of them children under the age of 12, are in the house, which for 32 years has been serving York County families who are experiencing homelessness.

Logos Academy has announced a formal affiliation with New City School in Harrisburg. New City School will officially operate its kindergarten and future kindergarten through 12th-grade program as Logos Academy Harrisburg. Logos Academy Harrisburg will begin with one kindergarten class and will add an additional class each year, expanding the number of students to be served in Harrisburg. Founded in 1998, Logos Academy, an independent school accredited by the Middle States Association, serves a diverse group of students from 12 different school districts. Logos Academy is funded primarily by donors who provide scholarships to students. New City School shares Logos Academy’s vision to develop students of intelligence and character.
