“Tuned Into York” Concert Posted
Kreutz Creek Library, 66 Walnut Springs Road, York, will offer a variety of activities. Preregistration is required for most activities, including virtual programs. Programs will be held via Zoom, unless noted otherwise. Details and registration are available at www.yorklibraries.org.

The library continue to offer lobby pickup only. Items may be picked up on Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m.
Digital story times offered will include Preschool, for those ages 3 to 5, on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. on YouTube.
The Danger Club, open to participants ages 9 to 12, will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10. Youths ages 9 to 12 may also attend Library Squad on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 6:30 p.m.
Weekly Grab & Go Activities for Tweens, open to individuals ages 8 to 12, will feature a new secret code every Monday with an opportunity to win a special treat; this program will continue through Aug. 9. Scratchies for Teens, designed for youths ages 13 to 18, will offer an opportunity to win prizes by placing a book on hold and picking it up in person; this program will continue through Aug. 22.
Tiny Art for Teens will be offered to those ages 13 to 18 in August. Teens may pick up a kit at the library and watch the instruction video on YouTube.

Local author and Spring Grove School District teacher Jared Reck will discuss his latest novel, “Donuts and Other Proclamations of Love,” on Aug. 3 at 2 p.m.
Virtual Talewise, an Exciting Combination of Science and Stories, will be held on Thursday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. It is for people of all ages.
Virtual Jake Strong: York Libraries Tales for Tails Magic Show, a program for children and youths ages 3 to 18, will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 19, at 10:30 a.m.
Each Thursday in August, York County Libraries will host a Zoom meeting on a topic inspired by this year’s A Summer Read book selection, “You Belong: A Call for Connection” by Sebene Selassie. Meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Kreutz Creek Library’s TechTime will be offered by phone on Thursday, Aug. 19. Community members may call 717-846-5300 and ask for the tech specialist from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m.
Art Journaling for Adults and Teens will be offered on Thursdays through Aug. 12. Each Thursday after 1 p.m., the library will add a new art journaling theme to the online event calendar. Participants can share their creations in the comments section on the corresponding Facebook post.
Mystery at the Library/Virtual Author Event will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. Attendees will visit with authors Dana Mentink, Catherine Bruns, and Carrie Doyle. Direct links will be available on the library’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
The Friends of Kreutz Creek Library Branch Support Group will meet on Aug. 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the upper pavilion in Emig Park. For more details, call 717-252-4080.
Church Posts “Wilderness Escape” VBS
St. John’s Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Locust and Sixth streets, Columbia, will offer a vacation Bible school with the theme “Wilderness Escape: Where God Guides and Provides” on Monday to Thursday, Aug. 9 to 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a free event for children ages 3 to 12.
Children will explore some of the adventures faced by Moses and the Israelites. The VBS will include songs, games, snacks and Scripture. Each session will begin and conclude at Celebration, a time of upbeat activities that gets everyone involved. An ice cream social for the whole family will be held on the last day.
Attendees should enter the VBS using the Sixth Street entrance.

The Appell Center for the Performing Arts has announced a new, free community concert in York city’s Kiwanis Lake Park, located off Parkway Boulevard and North Newberry Street. “Tuned Into York” on Saturday, Aug. 14, will include multiple musical performances, family activities, food trucks and games. Admission is free.
The performances will start at 4 p.m. and will include RalphReal and the Family Jam, a live band presenting funk, soul, R&B, hip-hop and jam band instrumentals; Grupo Exito, playing the music of Bachata, merengue and ballad; Everyperson, a multiinstrumentalist and songwriter; the YWCA Temple Guard drill team; DJ Psycho Fobia, a DJ, rapper, composer and producer; LD Legendary, a composer, producer and vocalist; and Coco Shantelle, an R&B/soul vocalist. The master of ceremonies will be Jamiel Alexander.
Making the event possible are sponsor M&T Bank as well as a Downtown Inc Welcoming Community Grant.
Diaper Giveaway Planned
A Woman’s Concern Pregnancy and Parenting Resource Center will hold a drivethrough diaper giveaway at 1102 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, on Friday, Aug. 6. The “Diaper Day” giveaway will be open to the community from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until supplies are depleted.
A Woman’s Concern offers no-cost pregnancy and parenting services to women and families in the Lancaster area.
