This premiere site is a cooperative venture of the Greater Elizabethtown community, including government, nonprofit, educational and recreational organizations. Greetings from Mount Joy Township! The Township of Mount Joy is located between the boroughs of Elizabethtown and Mount Joy, and adjacent Dauphin and Lebanon Counties. Governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors, Mount Joy Township is home to productive farmland, wooded hills, family-friendly neighborhoods, and three public parks within its 28 square miles. Our Township has the unique distinction of being the only municipality in Lancaster County that is served by two separate school districts: Donegal School District and Elizabethtown Area School District. Mount Joy Township was “born” in 1759 when it received its papers from the adjacent and much larger Donegal Township. The area was originally inhabited by the Conoy Indians and was mainly settled by Scot-Irish and German immigrants. Many small settlements and thriving villages were established in the midst of acres of lush farmland, most of which is actively farmed today. The Lancaster, Elizabethtown, Middletown Turnpike was an important road for commerce in those early days that continues to be a key commercial corridor now known as Harrisburg Avenue. We have three Township parks offering many active and passive recreation opportunities in the western, central, and eastern areas of the municipality. The 10-acre Wolgemuth Park (8795 Elizabethtown Road, Elizabethtown) is located next to our Fairview Municipal Complex

and features walking paths, baseball and softball fields, and a pavilion with an adjacent playground. Cove Outlook Park (405 Old Market Street, Mount Joy) can be found across from the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center’s Mount Joy Campus. Cove Outlook is a 25-acre park consisting of walking paths, a soccer field, four pavilions, and two playground areas. Our newest park, Old Trolley Line Park, (475 Beverly Road, Elizabethtown) offers walking trails and a parking area that serves as a convenient trailhead to the adjacent Conewago Recreation Trail. In 2019, the multipurpose field, softball field, and baseball field will be ready for play. We are now located in the recently-renovated Fairview Elementary School at 8853 Elizabethtown Road. Welcome to West Donegal Township Settled in 1719 and incorporated in 1838, West Donegal Township is named after County Donegal in Ireland. Located west and south of Elizabethtown in Lancaster County, West Donegal Township comprises an area of 15.6 square miles in size. Governed by a five member Board of Supervisors, the 2010 census indicates the Township has 8,546 residents. The Township is part of the Elizabethtown Area School District with the Rheems Elementary School located in the Township. Located within the Township are the Village of Rheems and the 1400-acre campus of the Masonic Village. Masonic Village with a population of 1920 residents provides retirement homes and other health care services as well as recreation opportunities for the community. A variety of housing types and areas are available to prospective residents. They range from agricultural, in the many farmsteads, to single and duplex units, apartments and condominiums. One unique residential opportunity, and first open space development in the Township, has preliminary approval and the first phase developed. The residential development with varied residential units will provide concentrated residential homes on

smaller lots with a park and open space to be enjoyed by the residents. A trail system in the open space areas will connect to a future trail system providing access to trails at Masonic Homes and into Elizabethtown. Wildlife view areas will be provided along the trail system for the enjoyment of the residents. The northwest corner of the Township provides the area of the Conewago Industrial Park. This industrial park, developed over the last 25 – 30 years, is the home of a variety of businesses providing manufacturing, assembly, and distribution services. Additional areas of the Conewago Industrial Park are yet to be developed and available. …A number of other businesses are found throughout the Township providing services and employment to residents and the Township and individuals from the region. The wide range of businesses and housing provides a varied opportunity allowing residents to live, work and play within the Township. ..Located between Harrisburg and Lancaster, West Donegal Township provides residents employment and recreation opportunities with additional amenities in the larger cities. Sunday Schedule Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday Morning 8:15 AM and 11:00 AM 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM (Memorial Day weekend - Labor Day weekend) Sunday School for all ages 9:45 AM (September through May) Lutherans, who immigrated to Pennsylvania from Germany, began worshipping near the village of Milton Grove around the year 1732. In the early 1750’s, the group moved to the William Bishop Farm on Ridge Road. On September 29, 1771, the growing congregation celebrated its first Liturgy at its current location on East High Street. Later becoming known as Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, the congregation has maintained a Lutheran Christian presence in the Elizabethtown community ever since. The first church building was a simple log house. In 1805, the log structure was replaced by a brick structure, which was eventually razed in 1886, making way for the present building. The current building underwent two major interior renovations, with the first being in 1921. The second renovation was completed in 1946 in celebration of the congregation’s 175th anniversary. It was at that time that the beautiful stained glass windows depicting the saints were installed. More than a building or location, Christ Lutheran Church is a body of believers committed to the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. This Good News is heard in the proclamation of the Scriptures, preaching and teaching and forgiveness of sins. The Gospel is made visible in the celebration of Baptism and Communion. As God’s priestly people and sacramental sign, the people of Christ Lutheran live out their faith in witness and service to Elizabethtown and beyond. Whether you are looking for a church home, passing through town or just want to visit, you are welcome any time.

Masonic Village’s Outreach Program and monthly caregiver and bereavement support group meetings provide free education and support to those in need. Through individuals and businesses who contribute to our mission, Masonic Villages is able to provide services worth approximately $40.5 million annually to individuals unable to pay for their care. Masonic Village at Elizabethtown is well-known as a continuing care retirement community. Elizabethtown Area Communities That Care Elizabethtown Area Communities That Care (EACTC) is a community organization committed to improving the lives of children, youth, and families in the Elizabethtown area. Using research-based programs, we guide and encourage our youth in making positive choices about alcohol, drugs, and other high-risk behaviors. EACTC partners with the schools, parents, churches and businesses to make positive changes in our community. EACTC facilitates a coalition, with representatives from many parts of the community. The coalition focuses on reducing youth drug and alcohol use, and

other issues that residents feel are important to make Elizabethtown a safer and healthier place. When you see and hear an ambulance responding to a medical emergency, you witness the most visible way that Northwest Emergency Medical Services helps the Elizabethtown community. Did you know there are other ways that NWEMS serves the community? Individuals who need CPR certification for their job can sign up for one of the classes taught in our Elizabethtown station at 380 W. Bainbridge St. This is a full CPR/AED class. Businesses that want to provide certified training for a group of employees can schedule a class at their facility or ours.There is a cost per student for these classes. Those who donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t need certification but still want to learn CPR can take our free, â&#x20AC;&#x153;Hands Only CPRâ&#x20AC;? classes.There are only two steps to remember for Hands Only CPR: call 911 and ask for an ambulance, then push hard and fast (100 times a minute) on the center of the personâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s chest until help arrives. Hands-on practice with our CPR manikins can give you the confidence you need to help someone in an emergency. What other community service do we perform? NWEMS comes to the aid of the Elizabethtown Food Bank by holding an annual food donation drive. We collect for the Toys for Tots campaign before Christmas. Scouts can come to NWEMS to learn the first aid skills they need to earn a badge. Teens who are interested in exploring ambulance service as a career or volunteer opportunity can join Junior Academy, where they learn first aid procedures and have actual patient contact while serving as first aid volunteers for community events like the Elizabethtown Fair and Masonic Village Autumn Day. We will take an ambulance to visit schools and day care centers, and hold station tours for groups such as participants in Camp Ladybug for individuals who have mental and/or physical challenges. 45th Annual Elizabethtown Fair We would like to invite you to the 45th annual Elizabethtown Fair. Our Fair serves as a showcase for local talent and reminds us of the agricultural heritage of Lancaster County. It is a place for families and friends to gather and celebrate all the best in our community. It seems fitting that this year's theme is "An American Tradition," as this is what the Fair has come to represent for those who visit each year. Forty-four years ago the first Elizabethtown Fair was held in the Community Park. The first year there was one tent for competitive exhibits, one food stand and a few carnival rides. There were no livestock or commercial vendors, no contests and no entertainment. Over forty years later we have grown to over 3,000 competitive exhibits, forty foodstands, 150 plus commercial exhibitors, and over 800 livestock. We have added entertainment on two stages and daily contests. We offer something for everyone from the Baby Photo Contest to Senior Citizens Day. The Petting Zoo, manned by over 100 volunteers, is a very popular attraction for all ages. We offer a place for youth to come together to show their livestock. The Fair operates with great cooperation from the Elizabethtown Area

School District and the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, as the fairgrounds are located on school property and parking is offered on church property. The church also provides an area for Competitive Exhibits to be displayed and a room for our monthly Board Meetings. We would like to thank the Elizabethtown Area School District and the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church for being part of the Fair. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters, including volunteers, sponsors, vendors and patrons. The Elizabethtown Fair has continued to grow and serve as a place for us to gather as a community to exhibit, compete, and to entertain and fellowship together. We have successfully been able to bring together agriculture, business, church and education in a great atmosphere. The Elizabethtown Fair Board meets the fourth Thursday from January through October at 8:00 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church. The public is invited to all meetings.
