Women of all ages and preschool children are invited to attend Neighbors Sharing and Caring, a women’s ministry of the Chiques Church, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, on Tuesday, Feb. 8, from 9 to 10:45 a.m.

Karen Burrows will speak on the topic “Finish Strong.” She will share that in today’s world, there is a need for endurance, patience, and strong faith in the truth of God’s Word. Burrows is a mother, a grandmother, and an associate pastor at Church of the Word International.

Determined Fitness Sets Open House

Determined Fitness, a program for breast cancer patients and survivors, will hold an open house on Sunday, Feb. 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. The event will take place at Crush PD Fitness, 35 S. Willowdale Drive, Suite 122, Lancaster.

The event will be hosted by Cris Forney, a certified cancer exercise specialist who also holds a master’s degree in counselor education. She has combined her skill sets to help breast cancer patients by providing a dedicated space where they can develop fitness of both their bodies and minds.

Forney explained that Determined Fitness offers mindfulness practice and lymphedema prevention along with exercises that promote range of motion, flexibility, functional movement and cardiovascular and strength training. Participants will meet in a clean, private facility.

College Athletes Win Accolades

Several players on the Bulldogs football team at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Lancaster, received 2021 Seaboard Conference honors. In total, seven Bulldogs won All-Conference Offensive First team honors while nine defensive players made first team. Seven players from Thaddeus Stevens were recognized as Second Team AllConference players.

Local 2021 All Seaboard Conference selections include Meleik Crenshaw (Columbia High School, Columbia) - First Team Offensive Line; Josh Gibson (Penn Manor High School, Lancaster) - First Team Defense: Defensive Back; Tim Martin (LampeterStrasburg High School, Strasburg) - Second Team Offense: Wide Receiver; Cole Patrick (Elizabethtown Area High School, Elizabethtown) - Second Team Offense: Quarterback; and Kamiron Webster (Milton Hershey High School, Hershey) - Second Team Defense: Defensive Back.

The Bulldogs also took home Conference Coach of the Year, which was awarded to Dennis Iezzi. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 6-2 record and won the Seaboard Conference.
