Lancaster Mennonite School (LMS) will welcome Eloy Rodriguez back to the LMS community as the principal of the new newly forming middle school at the unified Lancaster campus in the fall.

Rodriguez has served in numerous teaching and principal roles in his more than 19 years as an educational leader. He most recently was a longterm substitute for physical education at LMS’ Locust Grove and New Danville campuses. In this role, he instructed students in prekindergarten through eighth grade.

His career has also included middle school teacher roles in Virginia and North Carolina, elementary teacher and principal at LMS’ New Danville campus, middle school principal and high school associate principal at LMS’ Lancaster campus, and assistant principal at Park Elementary in the Columbia Borough School District. He has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Eastern Mennonite University, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Millersville University, an elementary instructional PA License for kindergarten through sixth grade, and a prekindergarten through 12th-grade principal certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. He is an active board member on the Eastern Mennonite University Board of Trustees.

GiGiFit Event Set In Lancaster

GiGi’s Playhouse Lancaster will present the GiGiFit Acceptance Challenge on Sunday, June 5, at the Lancaster Barnstormers’ home stadium, 650 N. Prince St., Lancaster. Events will be held from 7 a.m. to noon, followed by a baseball game at 1 p.m.

The event, a physical and social movement for acceptance, will feature a 5K fun run, a 1-mile walk, and the Kids’ Dash for Down Syndrome.

Individuals are encouraged to create teams and help raise funds to support programming for participants with Down syndrome at GiGi’s Playhouse Lancaster.

Peacock Esports Camp will take place on Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5. Students in grades seven to 10 may hone their gaming skills with the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D) collegiate esports team at the Center for Creative Exploration (CCE) at PCA&D, 204 N. Topics will range from the current state of gaming and game design to physical fitness and care for gamers, as well as teamwork and communication.

PCA&D will provide youths the opportunity to play alongside current collegiate team members, meet and learn from interim coach and alumnus Benjamin Farley, and start to build a network across the gaming industry. Game play will focus on Overwatch with additional play in Rocket League and Fortnite.

Pathways students learned about history at the Lancaster County Longrifles’ Rendezvous.

Pathways Community Homeschool students from the middle and elementary grades visited the Lancaster County Longrifles’ Rendezvous at Muddy Run Park on April 28. The rendezvous is an encampment that portrays the time period between 1740 and 1840. The students were able to join the Pathways senior high students, who camped at the rendezvous and conducted various activities for the younger students.
