Several spring events will take place at Central Penn College, 600 Valley Road, Summerdale. For details, visit www.centralpenn.edu.

A free screening of “Hairspray” will be offered on Friday, May 13, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The screening will be held in the Capital Blue Cross Theatre. Admission is free, but preregistration is required at http://givebutter.com/CPC Hairspray.

On Saturday, May 14, the Petapalooza will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Quad on campus. The free event will feature adoptable homeless animals from shelters and rescues in the central Pennsylvania area. Admission is free. Food trucks and vendors will also be available.

A Memorial Day ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, at the ATEC Building on campus. Col. Richard B. Johnson, formerly of the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, will speak on the history and importance of Memorial Day. Following the presentation, students and employees will plant 100 miniature U.S. flags around the ATEC building. The second annual Harrisburg Taco and Margarita Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 11. The event will feature area restaurants, food trucks, and carts serving up a variety of tacos and related food items. There is an admission fee, and food and beverages require an additional purchase. Museum Joins Access Program

The National Civil War Museum, 1 Lincoln Circle at Reservoir Park, Harrisburg, recently announced that it has joined Museums for All, an access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM). The program encourages people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum-going habits.

The program supports those receiving food assistance (SNAP) benefits by offering free admission to the National Civil War Museum. Free admission for up to four people is granted upon presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. Similar free and reduced admission is available to eligible members of the public at more than 800 museums across the country. Museums for All is part of the National Civil War Museum’s commitment to seek, include, and welcome all audiences.

VA2K Walk And Roll Scheduled

The Veterans Affairs’ (VA) 12th annual VA2K Walk and Roll event will take place on Wednesday, May 18, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, at 11 a.m. Its goal is to encourage people to move their bodies in support of whole health and well-being, while also helping homeless veterans.

The community is invited to participate in the VA2K event, which includes a 2-kilometer walk (1.24 miles). The event is free, and it is suggested that participants be at the front of Building 1, near the Whole Health Tent, 15 minutes prior to the start.

To help area homeless veterans, participants are encouraged to bring a voluntary donation such as clothing, toiletries, packaged food, or bottled water. These donations will be collected and distributed to local homeless veterans. People are not required to donate in order to participate.

Presentation To Focus On Lincoln Family

The Hummelstown Area Historical Society will hold a monthly meeting on Monday, May 16, at 7 p.m. at the Parish House, located at the corner of Rosanna Street and North Alley in Hummelstown.

The speaker, pastor Curtis Weber, will present on Abraham Lincoln’s family, starting with his great-great-great-greatgrandfather Samuel Lincoln, who came from Hingham, England, to Abraham’s children, Robert, Edward, William, and Thomas. Abraham’s family migrated from Massachusetts to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Indiana, and Illinois.

Church Slates Summer Series

Stoverdale United Methodist Church, 1760 Wood Road, Hummelstown, will begin its summer concert and barbecue series on Saturday, May 14. Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a performance by Randy Simpson outside on the lawn.

Attendees should bring a lawn chair. Attendees are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share. A freewill offering will be accepted.

All concerts will take place on Saturdays. Future concerts will include Unity Quartet on June 18, Crossover on July 9, Victory Express on Aug. 13, the Hagans Family on Sept. 10, and Brothers in Grace on Oct. 8.
