Ephrata National Bank (ENB) recently announced two staff promotions.

Jennifer Reeder was promoted to deposit solutions manager, and Rachel G. Bitner was promoted to executive vice president, chief financial officer (CFO). Additionally, Bitner has been nominated and unanimously elected as principal financial officer and treasurer of ENB Financial Corp.

In her new role, Reeder is responsible for developing and leading the digital banking and deposit product and services operational functions for ENB. She will manage three teams in the operational area of the bank, including the digital banking, payment operations and deposit operations teams. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations for all three areas and ensure that these teams are operating effectively. Reeder has more 20 years of experience in the banking industry and currently resides in Wyomissing.

In her role as CFO, Bitner is responsible for directing the development and maintenance of the bank’s strategic financial plans and policies; monitoring the bank’s performance against established financial goals and objectives; directing the preparation of various financial reports for review by senior management and the board of directors, as well as SEC reports; helping to implement and coordinate accounting systems; ensuring adherence to operating procedures for accounting-related activities; and coordinating the compliance with regulatory policy relating to accounting systems and practices.

Within this role, Bitner will hold a seat on the executive committee, serve as chair of the bank’s asset liability committee and join the executive team in overseeing the bank’s strategic direction. Bitner has more than 22 years of progressive experience in the banking industry.

Bitner is a graduate of Messiah College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematical sciences. Additionally, she has supported the community through the years in her role as a board member and treasurer of the Long’s Park Amphitheater Foundation. She also recently served on the Women in Banking Advisory Committee for the Pennsylvania Bankers Association. Bitner currently resides in Lancaster.

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) will make financial assistance available to eligible children of veterans through the Educational Gratuity Program. This program is designed to provide financial assistance for those attending post-high school education or training at an approved institution in the commonwealth.

Children eligible for the assistance include those of honorably discharged veterans who have complete service-connected disabilities and served during a period of war or armed conflict. The assistance also applies to children of veterans who die or died in service during a period of war or armed conflict. Eligible children must be between the ages of 16 and 23, must be living within the commonwealth of Pennsylvania five years prior to application, and must attend a school within the commonwealth.

In addition, applicants must demonstrate a financial need. Payments will not exceed $500 per term or semester per qualified child to each approved educational institution over a total of eight terms or semesters. To apply, contact the Veterans Affairs director in the county of residence.
