For many cast members, this is their first musical production. “Seeing dialogue, staging, costuming, props, lighting, audio, vocals, choreography and blocking combine into this spectacle has been extremely challenging for some, who are seeing the ‘plane’ around them being built as they are flying it,” Weaver commented. “The older students have really stepped up and helped lead the younger cast members through the chaos of it all. As an educator, it has been such an incredibly rewarding experience for me to see friendships and confidence levels grow amongst the cast and to know that they are making memories that will last a lifetime.”
According to Weaver, TVMS did not present a musical for years because of staffing changes and the time commitment it takes to put on a show. “With a show that involves 45 students and has a lot of moving parts ... it was an intimidating project to revive,” said Weaver, adding, “The students and directors have been working diligently since October to learn blocking, choreography, lines and more.”
She said she is grateful for the grant provide by TVCEF, which is a nonprofit organization that strives to provide educational, cultural and recreational opportunities for the Twin Valley School District (TVSD).
Tickets for “Wonderland!” will be available at the door. TVSD students will receive a discount. The show will not be livestreamed due to copyright laws.

CVIM currently serves approximately 25 patients per week in its physical therapy program, which is supported by a staff of dedicated volunteers, including two physical therapists, two physiatrists, an athletic trainer, and a hand therapist, as well as additional volunteer professionals offering chiropractic care and acupuncture therapy. CVIM’s physiatrists and physical therapy team aim to empower patients through education, rehabilitation, and prevention, as well as nonopioid medications, injections, modalities, and therapeutic exercises.
The organization also now has a dedicated space for its own electromyography (EMG) machine, a diagnostic tool that is used to assess nerve and muscle function and that can be particularly helpful for patients dealing with hand or wrist injuries, such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
A majority of patients served at CVIM work physically demanding jobs in manual labor and the service industry. That means many CVIM clients are susceptible to injuries and may live in chronic pain, but they may struggle to access or afford physical therapy due to prohibitive out-of-pocket costs.
Comitta, who serves on the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, thanked CVIM president and CEO Maureen Tomoschuk and all of CVIM’s

Parkesburg Baptist Church is a mission-focused congregation. Members of the church youth group led by adult volunteers take part in an annual mission trip. Because of the pandemic, the 2021 mission trip members did not travel out of state as usual. Rather, a crew volunteered at Logan Hope School in Philadelphia, where it completed construction projects and helped with a children’s summer camp program.
In addition, adult volunteers from the church frequently work off-site “We make a meal once a month at The Parkesburg POINT (youth center),” Engel said. “Some people make desserts, and some people go out to prepare the meal or serve the meal.”
“It’s nice to help wherever we can,” she added.
For those in need of food, the church has set up a mini food pantry. Weather permitting, food items are placed on a table located outside the front doors of the church, 103 West St., Parkesburg. The table was set up in 2020 in response to the pandemic.
