A variety of makes and models of cars and trucks will be featured during Historic Poole Forge’s annual Cruise to the Forge, set for Sunday, Oct. 17. Also featured will be food, music, a silent auction and tours of the mansion.

The car show will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., but visitors are invited to stay on-site to enjoy the festivities until 2 p.m. “Judging for the top five cars will be at 1 p.m., and the silent auction will end at 1 p.m. But food will still be available and there will be music until 2 p.m.,” noted Dawn Ekdahl, Poole Forge executive director. “People can picnic and enjoy a lovely afternoon in the park and they are welcome to stay.”

Vehicle owners will be asked to pay a registration fee. Spectators will be admitted free of charge.

A DJ will provide music, and there will be a performance by Shakehouse Music. “We will have a live band back this year, which will set a nice tone,” Ekdahl said. “We will also have the mansion open for historic guided tours.”

A professional photographer will take photos of the vehicles as they enter the car show and drive over the site’s covered bridge, which crosses the Conestoga River. Photos will be available for purchase.

Craft vendors will be stationed outside this year, and the silent auction will also be located outside. Auction items will include gift cards and items donated by local businesses.

Food will be available for sale by Spanish Island Food Truck and Lickity Split. Locally made baked goods, including pies and whoopie pies, will be for sale.

Visitors are welcome to stroll the gardens and grounds, and children may enjoy the site’s playground.

Historic Poole Forge is located at 1940 Main St., Narvon, along Route 23, 7 miles east of New Holland and 5 miles west of Morgantown. For more information about Cruise to the Forge, call 484797-5302, email hpf1940@ gmail.com or visit www.historic pooleforge.org or www.face book.com/pooleforge.

In addition to special events, Poole Forge, a nonprofit historic park and recreation facility, is open daily for hiking, dog walking, fishing, bicycling and picnicking. The playground and pavilion are open, and the mansion is available for wedding and special event rentals. The site is home to a free sharing library box, where people may borrow a book to enjoy and then return it, or they make keep the book as their own.
