Program To Focus On Suffragettes

Ally McDowell, a former Solanco softball standout, surpassed the 100 career hits plateau while leading Widener University to a pair of wins over Gwynedd Mercy on April 1.

McDowell went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Her RBI single in the second inning put her in Widener’s record book. The senior outfielder also had an RBI double in the first inning to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. Widener won the first game 7-5 and rallied for an 8-6 win in the nightcap.

McDowell, a nursing major, started all 43 games as a freshman and racked up 50 hits and 25 RBIs. She finished with six hits in eight games as a sophomore.

“That’s quite an accomplishment,” praised Solanco head coach Brett Miller, “especially with the interruption of games due to the pandemic.”
