“Our emotions, just like our bodies, signal to us when challenges in life become greater than our capacity to manage them well. Counseling support can be a vital resource in helping individuals sort through life struggles, find healing from old hurts and build hope for a more balanced future,” explained Elaine Potts LCSW, New Hope Counseling Supervisor.
New Hope Community Life Ministry is a Christ-inspired nonprofit organization that exists to provide hope and restoration through compassionate professional counseling. The organization offers its services regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. As a result, New Hope opened the New Hope Community Closet to support its mission. The ministry also plans fundraising events throughout the year to support its mission.
For the first time, New Hope will host an event where the public can learn about the ministry, sample food from local restaurants, and bid on silent auction items. The “Discover the New Hope Chest” event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Providence Church, 269 Cinder Road, New Providence.
Attendees will sample food items from Melissa’s Country Grille, C.R. Lapp’s Family Restaurant, Dolce Vita Pizzeria & Grill, Hecho A Mano Restaurant, and OMG Donuts. “Because we’re in this community, I like to support the local businesses,” stated Deb Riddell, executive director of New Hope. “They’re such good supporters of us. It’s about New Hope, but we also want to support small businesses.”
New Hope will premiere a video at the event, which will share the story of an individual whose life was impacted by the ministry. Staff from the Community Closet will also have a table where they will share information about the store. At the silent auction, there will be a basket people can bid on but will not take home. The sale of this specific item will fund the underwear and socks given to those who utilize the clothing bank at the Community Closet.
Tickets are limited and the purchase window will close on Thursday, Oct. 21. To donate silent auction items or to purchase tickets, call 717-786-2802 or visit www.newhopeministry.info.
Event committee member Amanda Brown (left), executive director Deb Riddell (center), and event committee member Sandy Turek look forward to the fundraiser.
