The York Fair, distinguished as the United States’ oldest fair, having started in 1765, attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The fair started as a two-day agricultural market and continued to expand in length and scope over the years to become the 10-day event it is today. The 2012 York Fair will run from Sept. 7 to 16 at the fairgrounds, located at the York
Expo Center, Carlisle Avenue, York. This year’s event will feature something for everyone. Fair visitors interested in agricultural exhibits have a wide assortment from which to choose -- fresh fruits and vegetables and canned goods to live animals such as goats, sheep, rabbits, pigs, cows, ducks, chickens, and more.
[14]
FFA members and 4-Hers get to show off their prize animals, as well as help educate the public on various aspects of agricultural life through a petting zoo and animal learning center. A number of handmaid rugs, blankets, and other crafts are always on display as well. No fair would be complete without delicious food, games, and

The traditional Ferris wheel, bumper cars, and carousel are mixed in with funhouses and thrill rides that spin around flip upside down. Games line the midway, offering a variety of prizes, as well as the opportunity to earn
