2017 York Halloween Parade Grand Marshal - Carol Hill-Evans York Traditions Bank, Eventive, and all of the sponsors of the 2017 York Halloween Parade are pleased to have as this year’s Grand Marshal State Rep. Carol Hill-Evans. Hill-Evans began serving as state representative for the 95th District in January. Previously, she served on York City Council for eight years, including serving as council vice president from 2008 to 2011 and as president from 2012 to 2015. In the House of Representatives, Hill-Evans serves on the Education, Local Government, Urban Affairs, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees. She has helped pass numerous pieces of valuable legislation, including Libre’s Law, which more clearly defined categories of animal abuse and increased the penalties for serious cases. She introduced a resolution, passed unanimously, that designated April 2017 as Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month in Pennsylvania. Representative Hill-Evans has introduced two bills aimed at addressing domestic and sexual violence in our communities and on college campuses. One would ensure domestic violence victims can seek to be removed from cell phone plans tying them to their abusers; the other would create a task force to address such issues on college campuses. The Rep has also been active in working to address issues including diaper need among families, charter school accountability, and the need for quality early childhood education.

Events Fueled by

Community “These events are national and local traditions. They’ve earned their place in York, and in our downtown, and for that matter, events like this build community pride in every small town across America.”

The York Halloween Parade was in a similar position. The event had seen its 63rd march down Market Street in 2012, and it was doubtful as to whether it would survive for its 64th. It survived and now features extras like the family fun area sponsored by CGA Law Firm, where children enjoy balloons, face paint, and entertainment while they await the front end of the procession. From these two events, Eventive was born. The name became official in 2014 when the organization formed an important community partnership with York Traditions Bank. That recently renewed partnership continues to ensure that these inclusive events stay strong through the years.

That’s Adam Nugent’s take on events like York’s annual Halloween Parade and the July4York celebration, both of which take place in downtown York. Nugent is the lead on the Eventive brand. Using the York Revolution model of entertainment, Eventive plans and produces community events in and around downtown York and throughout York County.

By way of that partnership, another stellar event was created to help York “Laugh At The Cold” on Martin Luther King weekend in January. FestivICE features ice sculptures, an ice slide in Cherry Lane Park, Adirondack chairs and fire pits for s’more roasting on Beaver Street, and open storefronts and venues around downtown York, including winter-themed movies and hot beverages at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts.

“The Revs came to town in 2007 and brought new life to a downtown York that had been largely underappreciated for decades,” Nugent said. “Ten years later, our downtown is thriving, and the leadership of our company continues to find ways to make sure the York Revolution brand is not only moving itself in the right direction, but it is adding value for the people and businesses in our community through the process. Eventive was developed in 2013 from that philosophy.”

Eventive has come a long way since 2013. In addition to these large-scale community staples, it provides event planning and production services to non-profit organizations like Bell Socialization, which has partnered with Eventive to host its Big Bed Race for three springs, and a new weekend-long Western celebration at Steam Into History called “PA Cowboy Weekend,” where trains will be robbed, barn dances will go down, and families will have the chance to campout with real period cowboys!

The story of Eventive begins with York’s July 4 event. Area community events had steadily been losing funding and resources, and it looked like the fireworks weren’t going to fly anywhere near the City of York in 2013. That’s when the York Revolution stepped in and built a brand new energy around the event.

You can find out more about Eventive and all the fun ways to work with and in their community events throughout York County by visiting www.eventiveyork.com or following Eventive York at www.facebook.com/eventiveyork.

York Traditions Bank – Proud To Be Part of the York Community On a beautiful, sunny morning in August, we assembled at the bustling intersection of North George and East Philadelphia Streets to make a long anticipated announcement. Mayor Bracey, our County Commissioners, and over 60 community members, business owners, and professionals from throughout the city gathered with us to share in our exciting news: York Traditions Bank will open a downtown York branch at that very intersection in the spring of 2018! (Subject to customary regulatory approvals.) Since we first opened our doors in October 2002, a York City branch has always been a part of our strategic vision. It will be thrilling to watch it come to life over the next six to nine months. In the course of the last decade and a half, York Traditions Bank has established locations to the south, east, north and west of the city. In 2013, we opened our administrative headquarters on Pauline Drive. In 2014, we built our first branch in the Hanover area on Eisenhower Drive. The new branch, which will be located on the first floor of 100-102 North George Street, will be a continuation of our ongoing long-term investments in this beloved community and a testament to our dedication to our customers and to York City. York Traditions Bank is now 15 years old. The recent outpouring of community support is a reminder of the many friendships that have been forged along our journey, such as our ongoing partnership with Eventive. It’s our honor to help them sustain traditions like the York Halloween Parade and July4York and grow new traditions like FestivICE ice festival on Beaver Street in order attract more visitors into York City. We hope you enjoy today’s parade and festivities and, like us, take pride in all that York has and will become! Gene Draganosky, President & CEO
