Florida Driving Tips

• Florida motorists can be stopped and ticketed for texting while driving. Do not text and drive!

• Florida state law requires wearing your seat belt. In addition, children under age 4 or less than 40 lb (15 kg) must be in a child car seat.

• You may turn right at a red light after coming to a complete stop, unless a sign indicating “no right on red” is posted at the intersection. • Florida’s Move Over Law requires drivers to move over one lane for stopped law enforcement, emergency, sanitation and utility service vehicles, as well as tow trucks and wreckers.

• Florida prohibits the use of hazard lights or flashers while a motor vehicle is in motion, including during severe weather.

• Drivers may dial *FHP on Florida interstates and highways in an emergency to reach the Florida Highway Patrol (state police).
