Call for Papers: Mini Track on The convergence of ICT and Innovation – Case Studies, Challenges and Issues Track Chair:

Technological advancements are increasing at a rapid pace and developed economies are primed to exploit economic dividends to create wealth and improve the efficiency of public services and processes. However, the pace of commercialisation of new disruptive technologies has been slower than expected due to a range of factors, not least, the enhanced complexity of the value propositions in this sphere. This track primarily targets rich innovation case studies that explore the contextual peculiarities of the use ICT in facilitating the development new services, business models, products and processes. Case studies should articulate the salient issues that impact innovation, for example; regulation, standards, ethics, end user adoption, cost etc. What methods are firms adapting to in their quest to exploit the proliferation of disruptive technologies? How are firms and other stakeholders organising their innovation efforts to profit from these new technologies? Case studies are suggested in (but not limited to) the following areas: The uptake of ICT by SMEs for business model innovation The impact of emergent ICT infrastructures on service innovations. For example the impact of SMART Cities and Future Internet Research Experimentation (FIRE) in rural areas. SMART Energy Grids – the use methodologies such living labs and user engagement that derive the ‘real’ needs of end users. eHealth and eInclusion – the complexities of creating new health and social service innovations to citizens eParticipation – the challenges and promise of improving civic participation, economic and organisational benefits. The deployment of RFIDs to stimulate innovation in SMEs and large firm Harnessing Web 2.0 and social media for innovation In addition, theoretical and policy papers that are well aligned to the theme of ICT and innovation are welcomed. Publication opportunity Papers accepted for the conference will be published in the conference proceedings, subject to author registration. The proceedings have an ISBN and ECIE proceedings are listed in the Thomson ISI Index Social Sciences & Humanities Proceedings (ISSHP/ISI Proceedings) and the Thomson Index to Social Sciences & Humanities Proceedings (ISSHP).
