The Ford Volunteer Corps was cooking, baking and boiling, and slicing and dicing on a Ford Accelerated Action Day dedicated to feeding the hungry. More than 600 Ford employees teamed up with nonprofit partners to feed men, women and children in need. MODEL Teams of Ford volunteers also stocked shelves at food banks, packed and delivered food boxes, and prepared and served meals at shelters, residential facilities and soup kitchens. “We depend on volunteers to do what we do,” said Brother Jerry Smith, executive director, Capuchin Soup Kitchen. “Ford has been very supportive over the years beginning at the very top of the organization all the way down to individual employees. We’re very grateful.”

Ford Volunteers Make a Difference During Global Week of Caring. Creating a better world is hard work. It takes heart, determination, sweat and teamwork. It takes the Ford Volunteer Corps. More than 12,000 Ford employees and retirees came together on six continents for Ford Global Week of Caring. For the sixth straight year, Ford volunteers picked up paint brushes and hammers, shovels and wheelbarrows to tackle 237 community projects and make a world of difference for people in need. Employees at Ford dealerships also answered the call to help, putting teams of Ford volunteers on the job in 45 countries from Europe and Asia to Africa and the Americas. The Ford volunteers: • Renovated schools in South Africa • Restored trails for wheelchair access in Belgium • Provided meals and clothing, and organized medical check ups for orphans in India • Built houses in El Salvador and Honduras • Painted a school and provided school supplies in Trinidad and Tobago • Repaired shelters, constructed patios, playgrounds and pantries, and created gardens across the U.S.
Blue Oval Scholars. Ford Motor Company knows that investing in education is investing in the future. Ford's continuing commitment to education is reflected in the latest "Blue Oval Scholar" celebration in Detroit. Scholarships totaling $100,000 were awarded to 145 high school seniors in Southeast Michigan. "You have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school – learning," said Robert L. Bursey II, a new Blue Oval Scholar. "Your generosity has inspired me to help others and to give back to the community." The Ford Blue Oval Scholarship program drew applicants from schools with high drop-out rates. There are more than forty schools with dropout rates of forty percent or higher in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. Ford also is sponsoring a grant program for a local high school that submits the winning proposal to create a mentoring program that pairs younger students with juniors and seniors. A Back to School Empowerment Seminar hosted by former NBA player Jalen Rose also will be presented at the winning school. Ford also is partnering with the Jalen Rose Charitable Fund to award a $10,000 scholarship to a deserving student; Arnetia Vaughn-Scott is a graduating senior from the Detroit School of the Arts.

William Clay Ford Jr., executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, has announced a major new £1 million (US$1.65 million) UK university scholarship program in technical and innovation fields to mark 100 years of Ford’s commitment to the UK. The Ford Blue Oval Scholarship Program will provide 100 student scholarships – one for each year of the company's operation in the UK – at leading universities to encourage a new generation of engineers, scientists and innovators.
