World wide tea producers

• Europeans drink mainly back tea. The eternal argument is whether to add milk or not. This was originally done not for taste, but to prevent the cracking of fragile porcelains cup. • The Japanese favor their tea straight up and green. • The Turkish are the 4th biggest tea drinkers in the world. • The teabag is an American invention. It was also an acciental discovery in 1908. Thoma Sullivan, a tea merchant from New York, sent samples to his customers wrapped in silk pouches. Customers didn’t realize they were supposed to remove the silk before adding water.


China

The tea ceremony in Chinese culture reflects the search of beauty in every object of the world, in accorance with the Tao philosophy. It must be held in a peaceful space and induces a sense of tranquillity among participants.


Japan Japanese tea ceremonies are held in the “tea houses�, which every traditional home has.It is designed in the spirit of the Zen doctrine. Thus it focuses on small details, meant to induce a sense of serenity and harmony among the hosts and the guests.


Russia The Russian population customarily drinks black tea. Tehy tend to prepare a strong concentrate of black tea, which is kept in a teapot next to the Samovar( a lagre metal container for hot water). The concentrated tea is diluted with water by personal preference.


India Toay, the Indian tea industry is one of the most flourishing and influential branches of the Indian economy. Indian customarily drink black tea with milk, an English custom tha remained as a testimony to the British colonial rule over India.


uk The British started tha tradition of adding milk to their black tea. Afternoon tea (3 - 5 PM): aristocracy ate only twice in a day, afternoon tea served with a light meal was intended to be a bale hunger. High tea (5 7 PM): this is actually an early dinner which includes tea.


Tibet

Drinking butter tea is a regular part of Tibetan life. According to the Tibetan custom, butter tea is drunk in separate sips, and after each sip the host refills the bowl to the brim. Thus, the guest never drains his bowl; rather, it is constantly topped off. If the visitor does not wish to drink, the best thing to do is leave the tea untouched until the time comes to leave and then drain the bowl. The concentrate, produced by repeatedly boiling tea leaves, will keep for several days. The tea is then combined with salt and butter in a special tea churn, and churned vigorously before serving hot.
