2023, year of industry events

The year has opened with highly successful industry events with record breaking visitor footfalls. These included Intersec and IDEX in UAE and LEAP in Saudi Arabia. Industry specific events are opportunities for end users, channel partners and solution provides to come together and engage around the latest innovations, business use cases, and pain points and challenges ahead.

GEC Media Group has also announced the launch of its flagship global roadshow, across 50+ countries from July to September, targeting 5,000 IT leaders, titled The World CIO 200 2023. This year’s theme will be Rise of the Power!

Continuing with another flagship roadshow event, GEC Media Group successfully completed the ninth edition of its Future IT Summit 2023 roadshow.

This was attended by close to 200 industry executives and enterprise IT decision makers. Other than the welcome speech, keynote speakers, panel discussions, the event also saw recognition for top executives through the various awards including Titans Badge of Honour, Catalyst Awards and Top 10 IT Awards.

The keynote speakers included Charbel Zreiby from Dell Technologies; Manish Narayanaswami from Kissflow; Ali El Kontar from Zero&One; Murthy Sadasivan from Securenet; Manas Sarkar from Trend Micro; Gaurav Singh founder of JPIN, among others.

The panel discussions covered CIO Power Panel: Who leads the enterprises’ ESG strategy and how can CIOs enable this; CIO Power panel: Are vendor solutions mature enough for enterprises large scale automation rollout; and Rapid Fire - Leadership in 2023.

In other deep dive we look at how IDC views the impact of digital transformation on the CIO and the IT enterprise. According to IDC’s Jyoti Lalchandani, digital transformation has made information technology embedded inside business processes and operations. This has made IT decision making distributed across the enterprises. Today, technology has relevance for the C-suite, for business and for the IT organisation as well.

The ecosystem of decision makers for IT investments was previously concentrated. Now we are going to see that ecosystem expand. We are going to see expansion in the decisionmaking ecosystem beyond IT. Within IT, we are going to see other stakeholders of CXT, AI, DevOps, infrastructure teams, application teams in decision making.

Technology is now so embedded across business units, across functions, that it is no longer an operational part of the business. We are going to see a shift from task-based automation to end-to-end process automation. With AI enabled and AI embedded within automation, that means machines are able to predict and even deliver the service.

On the global front we are now talking about end-to-end sovereignty. It is no longer just a data discussion, but a digital sovereignty discussion. The focus is shifting from geopolitics to geoeconomics. Technology is going to become an area of focus for public sector and governments around the world.
