YOUR MINDSET MATTERS NOW MORE THAN EVER!

e have all lost something during this crisis, but it has also offered us up huge opportunities. Our future is bright, because no matter which country we operate in we’ve seen how necessary, relevant and important our industry and model is, especially in these times.
Lockdown and social distancing restrictions have created an appetite for human contact and social interaction. Face to Face connections with customers is a huge advantage for our clients, and more brands are willing to use Face to Face to find new customers and build their image. Brands want and need to be able to connect with their customer base. Now more than ever that personal connection is vital. Face to Face is therefore the most needed, desired and natural channel for brands to investigate in these times. People value their lifestyle, freedom and flexibility more than ever. Unemployment rates are high which afford more people the ability to discover this opportunity. What makes us relevant for people is that we don’t provide a restrictive, overly structured day job, but a platform to create their own future based on their standards, goals and ambition.

S THE N OF YOUR SUCCESS
year in the history of most of our lives. This pandemic is the first global event that has affected, of working since the world wars. However, 25 years from now, what we are currently feeling will napshot of the bigger picture of all of our lives. How we come out the other side of this pandemic few months. We recognise how different successful people in our business can be, different approaches, personalities and goals, but deep down they all share one core trait: a progressive mindset. Those who have overcome the limiting mindset of « I can’t do it..., I’m uneducated, I’m inexperienced…etc” have found a way to capitalise on this opportunity and take advantage of what is in front of them. Who hasn’t felt embarrassed after trying something and failing??! In this business, we don’t thrive watching people fail, we celebrate failure as a part of growth, a necessary step on our constant journey of development. Failure doesn’t matter. Effort, attitude, and persistence make you successful. Gez, Cameron, Michelle, Angad and Faisal are successful Entrepreneurs now, but... what if they had stopped learning on their first challenging day in the field or at the first piece of criticism they received ? They would not be the success stories they are today. Their growth mindset allowed them see these challenges as necessary steps in their journey of development, something to learn from, and then move on from.
DON’T LOOK DOWN, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRI Z E Challenging times are by nature overwhelming. But as they pass, they become just a little speed bump along your road to success. Two years ago, we decided on a BHAG; 1,000 offices and 40,000 collaborators. This was our 10-25 year vision and it hasn’t changed. What we are currently living through will not affect this goal or the vision I have to achieve it. We are not reducing the end goal because of this pandemic, we’re simply adjusting the process of how we achieve it! Instead of dwelling on what we may have lost, we need to keep Thinking Big and focus on our long-term visions. What is your vision? How do you see your life 10 years from now? Have you changed your end goal because of this pandemic? If so, Why? Re-evaluate that choice and start Thinking Big again. The goal should not have changed, even if the route to getting there has!
Surround yourself with big thinkers, find and recruit people who have the right goals and the right mindset. People who are willing to learn, and willing to grow. We are a strong network full of powerful thinkers and amazing problem solvers, here to develop, motivate and educate each other. In early 2021, we will be running the first test campaigns in Germany and we’re already looking at opening offices in Switzerland, Morocco and Mexico. Our expansion has not taken a break, our clients have not taken a break.

I’M IN IT TO WIN IT I want to start this with a little exercise I took from Warren Buffet at the beginning of lockdown … take a piece of paper and write down 25 things you want to achieve in your life. Now take the first five and get rid of all the rest. The five things that you noted first should become the most important things in your life. I did this exercise for myself at the beginning of lockdown and it gave me a new perspective, really enablling me to focus my attention proactively.
HERE IS MY TOP 5 1. FAMILY 2. BUSINESS 3. BOXING 4. DOGS 5. FRIENDS
I KNEW I HAD TO BE IN IT TO WIN IT. SO I GOT TO WORK 8
I ran breakfast Q&A’s and afternoon calls where I would focus on two things: Why I love this business
everything I started during lockdown and even before. Thanks to the new levels of trust, accountability and organisation I’m able to run my business across two different cities, completely remotely.
Being grateful for the things and opportunities we have
I was running 12-15 hours of calls and organising about 20-30 hours a week with other speakers for my network and the rest of the UK during lockdown. I used the network around me to inspire and educate through the telling of their stories. Running calls and consistently coming up with fresh content is draining, so being able to call on the people around me was a lifeline. When the end of lockdown was announced, I encouraged everyone to take 2 weeks for themselves, to be with their families and loved ones so that when we had the opportunity to go back to the field, people felt refreshed and rejuvenated after some well needed time with loved ones.
I shared my vision, I shared my plan, and people believed me when i said I was in it to win it ! All of that hard work paid off, more than 90% of my network wanted to remain as Brand Ambassadors after lockdown, I had given them my vision, they knew I had a plan and they were excited for the future. I’m on a roll now, and I know it’s the aftermath of
Another realisation I had during lockdown is that there is NEVER a good time to get something done. When I started as a BA, I traded the time I spent boxing for time in the field and educating myself. Through lockdown I realised I was ready to do a PB...with boxing, running and losing weight. I got training back into my routine, once a week, twice a week, three times a week… whatever it took, and I’m proud to say I’m back in shape, and ready to progress in boxing again.
Training is a reward, not a punishment, it allows me to feel better, which makes me perform better. We have no idea how long this pandemic is going to last. Maybe what we know right now is going to become normal for the rest of our lives. Now is not the time to curl up into a corner waiting for things to go back to the way they used to be. Instead, we have to pivot and find the routine that is going to make us successful in the here and now. We have what we have. Focus on what you can control!

INDEPENDENT LEARNIING
Mars Cowley Smyth
Independent learning is the ability to make informed choices and take responsibility for your own learning and progression. Here are a few tips that will apply to you and the people you are coaching.
1. STAY MOTIVATED If you are on top of your COD topics and weekly focus you are more likely to stay motivated so try not to let yourself get behind. It is easy to say, but attend the coaching sessions, be engaged and ask all the questions you think of. If you think you may be demotivated, ask for a one on one with your coach or MD/Franchisee.
2. BE CONFIDENT This is easier said than done, but you are now in a position to make your own. Have confidence in your abilities to achieve your own goals.
3. REFLECT Look back at your learning and decide whether it has been effective or whether you need to try a different approach. Bad experiences can be converted into positive ones by considering what you have learned for the future.
4. MAKE INFORMED EDUCATION CHOICES To make informed choices, you need information on different ways to educate yourself, of course there is the COD, coaching sessions on Zoom, practice in the field. There are also books you can read, and amazing unlimited sources of information online such as - Inc.
- Daily OM
- Goalcast
- Health & Wellness
- Ted talks
- Mindvalley
- Success Magazine
5. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY Decide which of these things (or others) you need to improve the most. There are many ways you can take responsibility to improve these yourself. Scheduling self education times into your plan and asking for feedback and guidance from your coach or MD / Franchisee Reading books, and finding reputable sources of education online to help you progress Tracking your progress and learning from your failures Creating the correct habits Having self awareness of knowing your best learning environment

OPENING A BUSINESS DURING A PANDEMIC
While businesses around the world were closing their doors, three inspirational entrepreneurs were opening theirs ... Read their stories!
Andre Bushdid LondON Opened his business in September 25 BAs
It was scary but definitely an amazing feeling, a little like talking to your first customer on your first day. At first you’re nervous but once you break that comfort zone it becomes easier and easier day by day as you grow more confident and experienced! Having a support network like ours has been invaluable to me. Without the mentorship and guidance of the top performers in our industry, I probably wouldn’t have started trading! Doing a structured business plan alongside my mentor helped me remove emotion and allowed me to make smart decisions. Also knowing I had my £10.000 safety cushion gave me a lot of confidence while opening.

Michelle Bekkens ANTWERP
Opened her business in June 14 BAs
I figured the pandemic will probably last about 2 years, so I had to find a way to keep living and growing in the new era. Despite the pandemic the feeling was right and the reception at the door was great so I decided to take the risk and open my own Franchise in June ! I have a great business relationship with the BAs in my network. They know they’ll always be my priority and their support was what made the transition to a Franchisee during this chaotic time so seamless. I was always a very independent person and was given a lot of autonomy as an Assistant Owner, so I knew I was ready. While it was certainly hectic at first, it’s incredibly rewarding now as I see the bubble Leaders become more responsible.
Donavan De Vos MECHELEN Opened his business in July 12 BAs I’m so excited for my future as a Geninc Franchisee, and after such an unusual start I feel ready to face anything that comes my way. I have plans in place for myself and the BAs should another lockdown come our way. So for now I’m being positive, focusing on my goals and embracing the amazing feeling of being a business owner! I’m on my own in Mechelen, and I love that independence. But at the same time, I have constant support from Geninc and the other Franchisees in Antwerp which makes this process so much easier.

BEING A PIONEER IN THE NEW ERA
SAVED MY BUSINESS
After really embracing lockdown by honing his impressive baking skills, Jorik came back to the field with a refreshed outlook, and a new system!
JORIK VAN ROSSUM
While the ‘Bubble System’ is a phrase we all know well by now, Jorik was one of the first MCs to implement it successfully.
16
Despite 5 confirmed cases among his network in the past few months, Jorik only ever had to quarantine individual bubbles, ensuring the rest of his office could continue to trade safety. The ‘Bubble System‘ also allowed him to offer more flexibility and responsibility to the BAs and coaches, and because of this he’s broken new sales records and sped up the pace of promotion across his organisation. Below are some of Jorik’s top tips for protecting your business by implementing a ‘Bubble System‘
This new organisational structure allowed me to work more intensively in the mornings, then focus on my recruitment in the afternoon and still have more time for my friends and family, exercise, and other projects. It brings me more balance, and I cherish that.
BASICS
• Create shifts so bubbles can’t interact with each other.
• Take advantage of the configuration of your hub and its different rooms, if possible, you can host different bubbles at the same time - but they must not meet! • Educate bubbles on not interacting with other bubbles outside of the office.
• Make sure hands, surfaces, devices, doorhandles, lift buttons, stair railings etc are sanitised regularly. (multiple times a day) • Set expectations and make sure people know the risks if the health and safety rules aren’t followed.
If someone doesn’t respect the rules, they can’t come back to the office for 14 days. Being strict is key right now, as one slip up can have huge consequences.
BUBBLE LEADERS Leading a bubble can have many benefits, people learn: • How to handle more responsibility. • Problem solving skills, which they will need when opening their own business. • How to organise online and Face to Face education, training and fun. (co-ordination is needed between other bubbles). • The importance and impact of critical conversations.
Each bubble starts with 5 people. It can grow up to 10. At 10 people, the bubble leader hits stage 5 criteria. It gives them a very clear goal to hit.
17
OWNERS AND FRANCHISEES NEED TO ADAPT TOO Become better organised and prepared so they can make the most of the time they have with the BAs either in the hub or remotely. Coordinate with the bubble leaders and make sure they have all the tools they need. Run motivational and vision topics remotely, assist the bubble leaders in sales coaching Face to Face. Innovate to face new challenges head on and make the most of the new era.
WHEN SOMEONE IS COVID-19 POSITIVE Pull the entire bubble off the field or out of the office immediately. Ask all bubble members to self isolate and get tested. Have a 2 week education/engagement plan ready for isolating BAs BEFORE it happens. Mix education and fun with self auditing and self development. (gap and SWOT analysis, vision boards etc‌)

RUNNING AMAZING FIRST APPOINTMENTS ON ZOOM
a r u La i g i &G
The pandemic has forced us all to look at things differently – to come up with new and innovative ways to achieve our goals. Gigi who has been a BA for 5 years and is now a Stage 5 in charge of the Notthingam hub, and Laura a UK based ORA with years of experience, talk us through how to nail your first appointments on Zoom.
22
"
I don’t have to oversell the business. People see how long I’ve been a BA for, so obviously they know it works.
"
I love doing appointments on Zoom. When I look at the webcam, everyone feels like I’m looking at them in the eyes..
BE PREPARED Make sure you’re ready technically, Wifi signal good? Sound and video on your PC working? Your energy counts more than ever, ensure that you are in the mindset before the call ! Ask people to jump on 5 mins prior to the appointment to make sure their webcam and microphone works as they are in the waiting room. This will give them a few minutes to sort out any issues so your appointment can start on time and stress free !
MAXIMIZE RETENTION
ATTITUDE
• Give your contact details so people can reach out if they have questions. • Use breakout rooms to allow candidates with similar engagement to interact.
• Remember your S.E.E principle. • Have your ice breakers on hand to set the tone and help the candidates feel at ease.
• Allow people to go when they are ready, keeping those with more questions and interest until the end.
• Being sympathetic and relatable allows you to connect more easily.
• Focus on those who are highly engaged, align your content to their individual interests and goals.
• Be open and transparent.
TOP TIPS • Take the first few minutes to introduce yourself and get to know everyone. • Use success stories from the network to create context for your audience. • Ask questions to find out what each candidate is looking for.
FOCUS ON KEY BENEFITS
• No Experience Needed
• No glass ceiling
• No discrimination • What counts is a winning attitude
23
THE COVID POSITIVES If someone had told us a year ago we would all be isolated in our homes for months, that we would start wearing masks when we went outside or that we would spend endless hours on Zoom talking, running educational calls, learning, drinking and quizzing we would have said they were bat s*t crazy! Here we are though! As bonkers as Covid has been to our personal lives and businesses my attitude is we must try and take what we can from it. What can we learn? How can we improve? How can we develop ourselves and our lives? So here are a few of my takeaways. We reacted quickly. The education and development plan put in place for Brand Ambassadors was efficient, professional, covered all stages of progression and allowed so many of our teams to hit the ground at an astounding pace when we did return to the field. This has been proven by the extensive amount of people advanced to Stages 4, 5 and 6 of the Business Development Programme on our return to the field across every country! Of this I’m immensely proud of all our business and Franchise Owners!
MARS COWLEY WHAT HAVE BEEN THE OTHER SMYTH COOL THINGS?
BAs not being in the office as often so they can focus on running their own businesses, coordinating their own teams, arranging their own meetup times and education. The reduced travel time is brilliant, much less commuting to the office and the flexibility to work from home more. So many Leaders and Consultants working in their own bubbles to develop their problem-solving skills which is accelerating advancements ! More sleep, more time to exercise! Winning!
24
I could keep going on but ultimately the best thing was our businesses ability to pivot. Yes, we were forced to update how we delivered some things but isn’t it brilliant that we could and that the BAs and Owners lifestyles have all improved because of it.
in it, not mud so there is hope for everyone.
So may companies were unable to do this so I feel immense gratitude that we could.
We should all be grateful that we have a healthy business that still provides us with a great opportunity, financial and personal freedom, better work/life balance and the chance to learn how to pass that opportunity on!
Plus, there is the soft fluffy side where I can feel the community spirit! Even in a city the size of London people are talking to each other and the response when you knock on someone’s door has never been kinder. The brilliant clapping for the NHS and awkwardly looking at your neighbours wondering when you were meant to stop. It has been nice to see. Plus, our earth has had a tiny chance to heal and Camden Lock looks like it has water
Ultimately with all the negatives of Covid 19, we need to remind ourselves there have also been some small positives, and these are what we should be focusing on.
STAY HEALTHY AND SAFE! 25
Delphine Boachie
MAKING AN IMPACT ON ZOOM Over the past few months, Delphine has driven her business forward, safely and successfully using the bubble system, only interacting with one bubble every day in the hub.
She has used this system to her advantage by tailoring weekly education programs to each bubble while maintaining officewide meetings, that she runs on Zoom, going at the same time. Here are her top tips on how to impact Brand Ambassadors when running education and motivation calls through Zoom.
OFFER CONTENT PEOPLE NEED
Every week, I have a conversation with the bubble leaders to find out what all bubbles need to focus on, and I build a custom topic plan for each bubble for the following week. Offering content that people need is the first step to increasing your impact. It takes 4X more planning but it allows me to cover more things and it speeds up BA development.
TIPS TO MAXIMISE ENGAGEMENT
Keep it short – people have a shorter attention span on Zoom, especially if they are not attending from home or a quiet place. Make sure people want to be on the call, if people need to ask you to be on a call, they’re already dis-engaged before logging on. Introduction is king – take the time to welcome everyone, ask how everyone is doing, tell a joke, a short update on your own day, do something to personalise the experience before you begin your topic. Recap on any previous calls you have had and clearly outline what people are going to get from this call. At the end of the call ask people to share what they have taken away from the call.
26
TOPICS ON ZOOM + FACE 2 FACE
Pay extra attention!
Make sure they can see you and hear you clearly, and you can hear and see them! Position the camera so they feel like you’re looking at them, making virtual eye contact. Interact with them, use them as examples, use their name and their personal situation to help draw them into the conversation.
USE ZOOM TO ITS FULL POTENTIAL
Share your screen to show an image, or a video, an image will convey your message better than a thousand words. Use breakout rooms to allow people to work together for a few minutes. More interaction = more engagement. Use the whiteboard to explain something, note ideas next to people’s names, this really boosts engagement and participation for attendees.
ANECDOTES > LECTURES
Where relevant, use anecdotes or short stories to make your point. People relate easier to a story than a lecture. Your story can be personal or be a video or a post that you found online.
HOW TO COME UP WITH FRESH STORIES I use Instagram a lot to find new content every week. I save the posts I like, then I use them to create the weekly topic plans for each bubble, according to what they need to focus on.

THE VIRTUAL EVENT PLAYBOOK Nicola Murphy THE OLYMPICS, GLASTONBURY, OKTOBERFEST...
The ability to pivot to virtual events is a critical skill businesses must learn, however 58% of event organisers were not comfortable with virtual event technology Never has the world seen so many Face to when surveyed in 2020. It is a steep Face events cancelled or postponed at learning curve, but worth it, so keep reading to know what to look at. one time.
TO STREAM OR NOT TO STREAM
There are different types of Virtual Event – Live Streamed Events or Pre-Recorded Events, or a mix of the two. Here is a snapshot of the pros & cons of each
LIVE STREAM
PRE RECORDED
MIX OF BOTH
Promotes the exclusivity & ‘live’ exciting feel
Is more flexible & audiences can watch again or at a different time You can edit & re-record any section if you want
Speakers can still be present for Q&A, but videos have had time to be edited. So you still have the exciting live element on the night alongside a slicker visual show.
It can be more expensive to get the speakers set up and recorded ahead of time. If you want an interactive experience, you still need the speakers available on the day.
Less tech problems as videos are already done & edited but the speaker can’t react to the atmosphere of the audience, so it can be a risk.
A lot more co-ordination, so more work involved at the time. If you have tech issues, you have to just keep going.
29
PIMP YOUR BRAND
• A cool design is a must for a virtual event • Use the Social Media channels your attendees use, and speak to them on those • Provide speakers and influencers with the right tools to promote your event • Use teasers, and interact with your audience before the event
CHANNEL YOUR INNER DRILL SERGEANT • Train each speaker to fully use the tool and technology • Do a full rehearsal of the event one week prior • Have another run through the day before, with the full shebang! • Make sure speakers use the interactive functionalities with the audience
30
DON’T ROCK PAPER SCISSORS IT
• What are the objectives of your event? • In what format will your event take place? • What’s your budget (including hardware, software & support)? • Choose your equipment, tools, platform & planning team... • Gather speakers & content ahead of time • Decide on branding & theme early • Plan your agenda • Know your audience
Organisations that didn’t try to engage virtual event attendees were 150% more likely to run unsuccessful events.
KEEP YOUR TECH TIGHT • • • • •
Have a run though to check cameras are well lit, at the right height & good sound Check speaker’s lighting and backgrounds so the cat is not the star of the show! Make sure the wifi is stable for each speaker Shut attendees microphones off so they don’t interrupt the speakers Don’t try a new tech for your main event. When in doubt stick to what you know
GET ENGAGED!
• Use an MC to hold the show together and keep energy high • Make sure the audience are the stars of the show, and they are engaged • Keep talks short, to no more than 20 minutes • Use social media to keep the vibe live – run social media comps, e.g. best TikTok, Insta or Tweet • Have a live support person available to help people get on, stay on • Be cinematic – change camera angles, surprise your audience, switch the pace up • Remind speakers to mix it up, get personal & have fun
