Even though the dishwasher does most of the work, you play a large part in how well the machine operates.
Here are some helpful hints to keep your dishwasher operating effectively and efficiently. Don’t overload. You must leave room for the water jets to spray and clean the dishes. Your dishwasher cleans better when using hot water. To ensure the highest temperature at the beginning of a cycle, run water into your kitchen sink until hot. (Catch unused water in a bowl to water household plants). Run the dishwasher at a time of day when water pressure is high, such as late at night. The machine will work better if you’re not using a lot of water for another machine or showering. Keep bowls, spoons and other dishes with identical shapes separated. Similar shapes will nest together preventing thorough cleaning. Always hand wash wood, silver, cast iron, china, crystal, enamel coated or hand-painted dishes.
The problem most people encounter with dishwashers is the simple inability to get clean dishes and glassware. In most cases, it’s not your dishwasher’s fault. Detergents no longer contain phosphates and are consequently not as effective in cleaning and removal of hard water spots & film. An additive, like Lemi Shine® Original, is needed in conjunction with your detergent to give you your desired results. Over time, the jets in the spray arms and other internal components may become clogged with hard water minerals. Lemi Shine® Machine Cleaner dissolves hard water minerals thus restoring and maintaining the proper function of your machines. Hard water will also cause visible spots and film on your dishes and glassware. Lemi Shine® Rinse is the only rinse agent designed to remove hard water minerals during the final rinse cycle.
disposals. A garbage disposal makes cleaning up after meals a breeze. By keeping food waste out of the garbage can, the disposal also keeps harmful bacteria and odors out of your home. Like any other kitchen appliance, proper usage and maintenance will ensure it operates properly for years to come.

The one thing you should never put in the garbage disposal: your hand.
While the disposal can handle most things in small portions, there are a few things you should never put in your garbage disposal. Asparagus, celery, lettuce, banana peels, corn husks, artichokes, or any other fibrous organic matter should not be put in the garbage disposal. Fibrous material may wrap itself around the flywheel and impellers causing the disposal to stop working. Potato peels, rice and pasta may make their way through the disposal, but can cause a starch based blockage in your drain. Grease should be recycled and never put down the drain. Chicken bones, fish skin and shrimp tails can clog your drain and cause foul odors. Pits or seeds from fruits and vegetables can actually damage or ruin your disposal.
Maintenance
Over time, food waste builds up on the shredder ring, flywheel, impellers, upper and lower hopper chamber. This buildup causes resistance on the motor and can shorten the life of your disposal. Also, a dirty disposal can stink up your entire home.
To clean and maintain your disposal properly, use Lemi Shine速 Machine Cleaner once a month or as necessary depending on buildup and odors.

Sorting is the most important step when washing clothes. A $2 sock can ruin a $50 shirt.
Here are some helpful hints that will ensure proper care of your clothing and washing machine. First, check your clothing care tags* and group by like color and fabric type. • Wash red fabrics with dark blue and black clothing. • Make sure all pockets are empty. The smallest metal object left in a pair of pants can cause avoidable damage to your machine. • Do not over load the machine with clothing. • If washing a small load, don’t waste water. Adjust the water level suitable to the load size. • Always wash towels separately. • Detergent - Less is more. Only use the amount suggested by the detergent manufacturer. Residual detergent inside the drums, door seal and pump promotes mold growth. This is the number one cause of a stinky washer and smelly towels.
