Research and Evaluation Summary Introduction Evaluation is a core component of EnvironMentors programming and serves to improve the program to better meet students’ needs and measure the effectiveness of EnvironMentors within your university. This section includes research about the benefits of the mentor-student relationship and its importance to the EnvironMentors Program. Tools that EnvironMentors will employ in the 2011-12 evaluation include Pre-Program and Post Program Student Surveys, longitudinal tracking of EnvironMentors student alumni, focus group research with current participants, and Chapter Evaluations. We review each tool annually to reflect evaluation refinements based on participants reactions to the program. All chapters are encouraged to participate in EnvironMentors evaluation components by administering the student pre and post program surveys, and chapter and mentor post program evaluations. Tips for EnvironMentors Evaluation You will receive a zip file and hard copy packet containing the 2011-12 Pre-Program Students Survey, Parental Waiver for students under 18, Waiver for students over 18, and a letter from Colorado State University’s Office of Independent Research providing blanket IRB approval for all EnvironMentors collaborating institutions.
