Spring is always a busy time of year for EnvironMentors students at university chapters in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Washington, and the District of Columbia. Each of our students is working diligently on scientific research projects, exploring their local environment and conducting experimental research with the help of university faculty and students or working professionals, who serve as personal mentors.
Astrid E. Merget, Ph.D. Vice Chairman Anthony Michaels, Ph.D. Larry A. Nielsen, Ph.D. Dian Ogilvie, Esq. Hon. Hazel O’Leary
Spring is also an exciting time of year when our students are waiting to hear back from their top universities and colleges. For many students, they will be the first in their families to attend college and face the added challenge of finding funding to pay for school.

The annual EnvironMentors National Fair, which will be held on May 26, 2011 in Washington, DC, presents a unique opportunity for our underrepresented high school students to win scholarships to support their academic goals.

EnvironMentors students at each university chapter will soon put the finishing touches on their research projects and present them to a panel of judges at their local chapter fair. The top three students from each university chapter fair will then travel to Washington, DC to compete for thousands of dollars in college scholarships at the EnvironMentors National Fair. Since 1992, EnvironMentors has supported over 3,000 students in fulfilling their dreams of going to college. With your generous support, we can continue to provide underrepresented youth the opportunity to obtain an undergraduate degree. I hope you will consider donating to the EnvironMentors Scholarship Fund and help our hardworking youth continue on a successful career pathway. Your gift will directly support an EnvironMentors high school student. Sincerely,
Susan Carlson EnvironMentors Director National Council for Science & Environment
