Unit 12: Organising Events
‘Who’s doing what when?’ activity guide
Estimated Duration: 45 minutes
Aim •
To provide a visual planning tool for project delivery
Outcome By the end of class, students will be able to: • Apply the model of project development from unit 11 to their own project
Resources • • •
Whiteboard and textas Papers and pens Butchers’ paper
Activity Description The model of project development provided in unit 11 suggests the following steps: Scoping Planning Promotion Delivery Evaluation The activities in unit 11 focus mainly on scoping and planning. This activity finalises both of these. Based on all the planning already done, all that remains in planning is to create a list of tasks based on this planning on butchers’ paper. Have the following headings on the paper: task; when; and who. There may be some scoping activities that need to be completed as part of this. So start with any scoping tasks that need to be completed, then move to planning tasks, promotions tasks etc. Note that students will learn more about evaluating projects in unit 13 and on promoting projects in unit 14, so you may want to leave planning of these aspects till a later class. At the end of listing all tasks, deciding on timelines is next, and then who will complete what. Once the plan is all worked out, make sure everybody has a copy, or that a large copy is on the wall in the classroom, where students can see it.
