Communications Best Practices
Do:
Consider everything on the record and remember someone could be recording you without you knowing.
Stay on message and pivot the conversation back to Envision’s clinical mission.
If there’s a difficult question, it’s ok to say you don’t know or that you aren’t the right person to speak on something or offer to follow up with the right answer.
Personal anecdotes and colleagues’ testimonials bring messages to life.
Be honest and sincere.
Don’t:
Repeat a negative phrase or word – answer a negative question with positive language.
Make jokes that can be misunderstood or poorly received.
Say anything negative that can be taken out of context.
Describe Envision as a “business” or “staffing company” – we’re so much more than that.
Key Talking Points
ABOUT ENVISION
Envision is a leading medical group delivering care when it’s needed most.
We care for patients and communities through 19 million encounters yearly
We cared for patients through 6 million radiology reads yearly.
Patients’ health and safety are our top priority.
We believe in caring deeply for our teammates, patients and community members.
We’re focused on empowering clinicians so they can focus on what matters most – patient care.
Clinicians exercise their independent medical judgment to provide high-quality, evidence-based care.
Envision teams are developing innovative programs that improve the delivery of care.
They consistently outperform national quality benchmarks, setting new standards for care.
They’ve developed 6 CMS-approved MIPS measures in the past 3 years (in other specialties). Support Throughout Your Career
We invest in all teammates, supporting their unique needs and professional development.
We offer opportunities to travel across the country and the world to provide care.
We participate in clinical research and create and share clinical best practices.
We advocate for clinicians and patients and engage legislators on ways to improve healthcare. Caring for the Clinicians Who Care for America
Our wellness program includes free mental health services, peer-to-peer counseling, crisis debriefs, leadership training and more.
We partner with the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation to prevent burnout and improve mental healthcare access.
We are committed to fostering an environment that encourages clinicians to seek care without fear of losing their ability to practice.
Envision has been recognized by ALL IN: Wellbeing First for Healthcare for verifying its credentialing applications do not contain intrusive or stigmatizing language about mental healthcare and treatment.
We’ve also been working with hospitals and states to update their licensing and credentialing applications. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
We value the many different backgrounds and perspectives of our teammates.
We continue to enhance our DEI program, including employee resource groups, and find ways to make our medical group more inclusive and reflective of the diverse communities we serve.
We’re researching health disparities and social determinants of health to improve patient care.
Ownership Structure
Our ownership structure does not impact care at the bedside.
We believe care decisions should be made between clinicians, patients and their families.
Envision is not private equity. We do not represent that industry or speak on its behalf.
Envision is no longer wholly owned by private equity – we have a number of institutional investors and an independent board of directors with extensive healthcare expertise.
Our values are in our DNA, and our mission to deliver high-quality care when people need us most continues to be at the core of who we are.
ADDRESSING CHALLENGES WITHIN THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
Clinician Compensation
Clinicians provide complex, high-need care and should be compensated fairly and appropriately.
Envision strives to remain aligned with the healthcare system, which means helping clinicians navigate continued rate pressures from insurers, changes in patients’ needs and the move to value-based care.
Resolving the Issue of Surprise Medical Billing and the No Surprises Act (NSA)
The majority of our patient encounters are in-network.
Before the NSA was passed in 2020, Envision had a policy prohibiting balance billing.
Envision supports the NSA when implemented as intended – it aims to remove patients from the middle of disputes between providers and insurers.
The challenges we face regarding the NSA are not related to the practice of balance billing but broader industry challenges.
In our experience, health insurers have used the NSA as a reason to push clinicians out of network and delay and deny reimbursement.
More work must be done to ensure a level playing field for insurers and providers.
Envision is committed to protecting patients and working on network agreements with insurers.
Empowering Our Care Teams
It takes an entire team to treat a patient, and we value each member’s skills and perspectives.
Our teams are guided by the delivery of high-quality, clinically-appropriate, evidence-based care.
We have a variety of care models, and clinicians make hiring and care team decisions locally in partnership with hospitals based on communities’ needs.
We support opportunities for clinicians to practice to the full extent of their capabilities.
Envision’s Approach to Quality Care
Envision holds itself to high ethical and clinical standards.
Performance metrics are set so clinical teams are held accountable to clinical quality metrics that ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
This includes quality metrics established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Teams are held to productivity measures consistent with industry standards – this is an important part of managing the total cost of care.
When appropriate for a clinical reason or otherwise, deviation from the metrics is not just allowed, it’s expected.
