2016 PROGRESS REPORT Organization Name: Hagerty Education Program at America’s Car Museum (HEP), now known as RPM Foundation Contact: Diane Fitzgerald, National Director Organization Address: 2702 East D Street, Tacoma, WA 98421 Telephone: 312-543-5732 (Diane) OR 253-683-3963 (Pam Dudley, Administrative Coordinator) Fax: 312-951-7313 E-mail: diane@rpm.foundation; pam@rpm.foundation; info@rpm.foundation Project/Program: Hagerty Education Program at America’s Car Museum (HEP), now known as RPM Foundation, is a services-providing, resource sharing, grant-giving organization that accelerates the growth of the next generation of automotive and marine restoration and preservation craftsmen through formal training and mentorship. 1. Organizational objectives: HEP supports the pathway to careers in the automotive and marine restoration and preservation industries. We focus mainly on 18-25 year olds in communities across the country and Canada. 2. Overview of project/program funded by the Mittler Family Foundation: The Mittler Family made a five-year pledge of $100,000 at the end of 2012, which has been paid in a $20,000 installment/year. The signed pledge agreement notes that $5,000/installment payment is dedicated to young people in automotive or marine restoration programs and $15,000/installment is dedicated to an endowment fund. As of June 2016, we have received four of the five pledge payments, for a total of $20,000 for young people in automotive or marine restoration programs, and $60,000 for an endowment fund. This progress report explains the $20,000 funding for young people in automotive or marine restoration programs. Please see the attached Financials At-A-Glance for information about the endowment fund. Schools and organizations apply for grant support three times a year and grants are awarded only with Board approval by a majority vote. Since receiving the Mittler Family Foundation commitment in late 2012, three different organizations have received funding for their programs: A. Automotive Internship: As you might remember from last year’s progress report, $5,600 was awarded to the Studebaker National Museum in South Bend, IN. The funds were sent to them in May 2014 and were used to hire a McPherson College intern to work for 10 weeks in the Archives and Research Department of the Museum. B. Marine Internships: Gig Harbor BoatShop was also part of last year’s progress report. They were awarded $9,400 in January 2015. The funds were used for their Maritime Mentorship Program (MMP), which provides a very intense, hands-on, educational experience by pairing master craftsmen with college-aged interns. June 2016

C. Marine Scholarships: Great Lakes Boat Building School received $5,000 in May 2014 and they used the funds to provide scholarships to students taking full-time vocational courses in a variety of traditional boat building areas. 3. Project/program objectives, including original objectives and any variances which may have occurred. (Any substantial variances should include an explanation.) A. Studebaker National Museum – See last year’s progress report on pages 53 - 55. B. Gig Harbor BoatShop – HEP received another progress report from Guy Hoppen updating their progress on December 18, 2015 (pages 5 - 13). Diane Fitzgerald and Pam Dudley made a site visit to Gig Harbor BoatShop on June 2, 2016, and saw the progress the MMP has made on the Chris-Craft Super Sport, a full restoration project. Guy Hoppen and his staff continue to help college-aged students gain the much needed hands-on experience they require to find a career in the marine restoration industry. See last year’s progress report as well on pages 53 – 55. C. Great Lakes Boat Building School’s mission aligns with HEP’s mission of providing hands-on education through their one and two-year programs in traditional and contemporary wooden boat building. Fifteen students received scholarships from the grant awarded in May 2014. Of those 15 students, 11 were first-year students and 4 were second-year students. The students came from Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wisconsin and France. 4. Degree to which objectives have been realized: (Please provide evidence to support your conclusions.) A. INTERNSHIP: Studebaker National Museum – See last year’s progress report on pages 53 – 55. B. INTERNSHIPS: Gig Harbor BoatShop – A recent site visit enabled HEP staff to see the ChrisCraft Super Sport close to completion. Three interns worked with Master Craftsman Bruce Bronson on the meticulous restoration. Additional progress reporting is pending from Guy Hoppen, with a photo journal and summary of the work done on the vessel from January 2016 till May 2016. See last year’s progress report on pages 53 - 55 for more information. C. SCHOLARSHIPS: Great Lakes Boat Building School (GLBBS) teaches and inspires students in the art and craft of traditional and contemporary wooden boat building. Scholarships were awarded to vetted students to help with the high cost of this specialized education, making it possible for HEP scholarship students to stay focused on this career path. The exceptional curriculum of GLBBS prepares students to be industry-ready by the end of their formal education. The students worked on several projects during their time at GLBBS, however the most notable was the work they did on the 32-foot Cornish Pilot Gig “August Glory”, which is part of the US Navy’s fleet. 5. Factors which contributed to or impeded your project's/program's success: A. Studebaker National Museum – See last year’s progress report on pages 53 – 55. B. Gig Harbor BoatShop – See last year’s progress report on pages 53 – 55.

C. Without the scholarships, made possible by the Mittler Family Foundation, these 15 students would not have been able to attend GLBBS. These 15 students ranged in age from 22-44 years old and there were 14 males and 1 female. They had a 100% graduation rate at GLBBS in 2015, which shows the passion and dedication their students have to learning the art and trade of boat restoration and preservation. 6. Fiscal report to include: schedule of budgeted amounts per original proposal; actual expenditures and variances; accounting of the use of Mittler Family Foundation funds. (Any substantial variances should include an explanation.) Please see attached (pages 28 - 32). 7. Copy of organizational budget and most recent financial statements. Please see attached (pgs. 28 32). 8. Additional comments: A. GIG HARBOR BOATSHOP: Additional details about Gig Harbor BoatShop’s Marine Maritime Program, and their status of the project, can be found on both their website and their Facebook page. I. http://gigharborboatshop.org/gig-harbor-boatshop-mentorship-program/ : You can read more about the program and see pictures of the progression at this link. II. https://www.facebook.com/GigHarborBoatShop : Their Facebook page also includes additional pictures of the Marine Maritime Program. III. Additional pictures of the Chris-Craft Super Sport are included in the Photo Gallery section of this report from the site visit made on June 2, 2016. B. GREAT LAKES BOAT BUILDING SCHOOL: Hagerty Education Program Board Members Clint Sly and Mike Stowe made a site visit to Great Lakes Boat Building School on February 5, 2016. Two pictures from their visit are included in the Photo Gallery section of this report.
