ABOUT US
Description Seven Oaks is a small school with a family atmosphere that fully engages children in their academic learning. The curriculum also fosters holistic personal growth and actively develops a wide range of practical skills.
Philosophy Seven Oaks was co-‐founded by Janet Nicol and Bruce McIntyre, in in 2009. They believe that every child is born brilliant, but all too often, is dimmed down by an out-‐dated education system that develops only a small part of the brain. Seven Oaks believes that the purpose of education should be to support the holistic growth – heart, mind and body -‐ of every child, to ignite and engage all of their natural born brilliance. We believe that true learning happens via experience rather than memorisation of facts. In a happy, safe, relaxed environment, children are able to open and learn more.

Important points
∗
Seven Oaks is an independent school – we are not zoned or affected by school mergers and closures.
∗
Fees are $7320 for the year, which is about half the cost of most private schools.
∗
Owen Arnst has over 30 years of teaching experience and before Seven Oaks, was Headmaster at Cathedral Grammar for 10 years.
∗
We now have students from Year 1 to Year 8 level. In 2014 our secondary school will open to Year 9 students.
∗
Secondary students will graduate with NCEA qualifications.
∗
We are planning to build and move to a new school in Halswell around 2016.
∗
We have plans to open a p re-‐school in the future.
∗
Parents are welcome to ring Owen for a p ersonal appointment and students are welcome to come for trial days (ph 377 8603).
