PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY LITANY
(Scriptures Hebrews 13:17, 2 Timothy 2:14, 2 Timothy 2:15, Micah 6:8, Colossians 3:16, Isaiah 55:4
Orator: Holy God, we praise You for Your wisdom in gifting the church with pastors. We thank You for giving us a pastor after Your own heart. Congregation: Thank you for our pastor. Orator: Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. Congregation: We thank God for a willing and faithful pastor. Orator: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Congregation: Thank you Lord for a pastor inclined to do your will by educating, feeding us with sound doctrine and patience to work with us. Orator: He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God. Congregation: Thank you for our pastor. Orator: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Congregation: Thank you Lord for a pastor with the skill of
ministering in word and song. Orator: Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. Congregation: Thank you for our pastor. Orator: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Congregation: Thank you God for a worshipping pastor. Orator: We thank You for the time our pastor spends in prayer, seeking You for directions in guiding this flock. Congregation: Thank you for a praying pastor. Orator: Lord, we thank you for our pastor, who possesses a pastor’s heart, a pastor with a heart that is willing to comfort and willing to correct—a heart that is full of compassion. Congregation: Thank you for a caring pastor. Orator: Truly the pastor’s work is great and many times is beyond our understanding, but You have told us in Your Word to honor those who work hard for You, giving spiritual guidance to Your people. Help us to acknowledge, appreciate, respect, and overwhelm our pastor with love for the work’s sake. ALL: THANK YOU FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF LOVING OUR PASTOR.
Pastor, Dr. Norah Banks, Jr.
Dr. Norah Banks Jr., was born July 15, 1951 in Homer, Louisiana, to the late Deacon Noah Banks, Sr. and Mrs. Janie B. Wise Banks. He attended elementary school at Homer Colored School which later became Mayfield High School, where he received his high school diploma in 1969. In October of 1973, Pastor Norah Banks married Miss Lillie Ford. The Lord has blessed them with three beautiful daughters; Leslie, Laketha and Camill, and 9 grandchildren. In June of 1975, Norah, Banks, Jr., accepted his call to the gospel Ministry under the direction of Pastor Earnest George at the Rising Star Baptist Church of Homer, Louisiana. In May of 1978, Reverend Norah Banks, Jr., became pastor of the New Pilgrim B.C. of Arcadia Louisiana, where he continues to serve today. In August 1996, Reverend Banks organized and led the New Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Family in the Building of a new church edifice. The church’s building project was completed in September 1997 and dedication services were held November 1997. At the least, five ministers of the gospel have been ordained under the leadership of Reverend Banks, during his tenure at New Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Inc. We are the church where we come to wor-
ship and leave to serve. “It feels like home at the REST.” On May 25, 1991, he received a Bachelor in Theology Degree from the United Theological Seminary and Bible College of Monroe, La, and on May 12, 2001, he graduated from the Interdenominational Theological Center of Morehouse, at the Morehouse School of Theology, in Atlanta Georgia. He also received his Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from the St. Thomas Christian College on May 24, 2009. As a community leader and ambassador for Christ, Pastor Banks was installed as Moderator of the Liberty Hill Baptist Association where he still serves faithfully. In the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, Pastor Banks, sang with a local gospel quartet called Echoes of Harmony. He currently sings with a local gospel quartet, “The Palmers.” Pastor Banks has recorded with The Palmers two album entitled “Be Born Again” and their most recent “I Can’t Go Back” which was written and led by Pastor Banks. Today, Norah Banks, Jr., continues to be dedicated to his call to preach the gospel and to the service of God’s people.
