“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” II Timothy 4:7 Sister Clemmie Elnora Adams Conley was born in Elizabeth, Louisiana to Ennis Adams Sr. and Josephine Greenwood Adams on September 10, 1928. At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church. She attended the Beaumont Texas Public Schools and Vallejo California Public Schools systems, and later obtained her General Education Diploma. She moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1962, and later attended the New Mexico State University Alamogordo Branch receiving a secretarial certificate. She united with the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in May 1962 where she was dedicated to Christ and her church. Sister Conley cherished singing for the Lord. Not only did she love singing, she was concerned about those learning more about Christ. She was the Christian Education Director for many years. She loved teaching and training her Sunday School and Baptist Training Union children. In addition, you would find her serving in various capacities in other ministries of the church: Senior Choir, Women’s Missionary Society, Church Clerk, Benevolent Committee, Program and Decoration Committee. She united in marriage to Charles Lee Conley in November 1971. She enjoyed working for Marvin and Lucy Rohovec, Darwin and Kathy Moses, Carol Burroughs, and Rolla and Pearl Buck for numerous years. Clemmie, known to everyone as Elnora Conley, passed away at the age of 82 years old peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August, 24, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ennis and Josephine Adams, Sr.; three sisters, Darnella Sherman, Thereatha Fritz, and Barbara Jean Philmon; and spouse, Charles Conley. She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Elder Linda D. Christian (Elder Walter) of Country Club Hills, Illinois, Janice O. Gross and JoAnna Conley of Alamogordo, New Mexico; one son, Minister Tracy E. Adams (Minister Debra) of Plano, Texas; two brothers, Ennis Adams, Jr (Naomi) of Houston, Texas, Nathan Adams (Burla) of Alamogordo, New Mexico; one brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Fritz, Sr., of Alamogordo, New Mexico; ten grandchildren, Pamela King, Phyllis King, Devin Christian, Alvin Theragood, Jr., Terrance Thereagood, Marques (Sevin) Adams, Jason (Justus) Adams, Danielle Adams Yarde, Ashley Cade, Janai Germany; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a hosts of friends that will remember her smiles, her pearls of wisdom, and her heart that was opened to them.

My Mother ... My Best Friend You remained so strong even until the end And through it all, you were my best friend A friend who guided and loved and cared And without thought for herself, was able to share. From you I learned never to be afraid, But to remain forever strong, for God was the only way. I always found comfort seeing your smile and hearing you sing. And it’s to memories like these that I will always cling. Had it not been for you, where would I be? Had it not been for all the strength you showed me. Had it not been for your support what future could I see? There are people whose lives are so special; Whose presence and love mean so much

That somehow you know wherever you go In thought you will never lose touch. There was laughter, there were tears Throughout our golden years And even though your time has come, Your memory remains here. Reflecting on our walks and talks A quiet times alone, I’m filled with peace to know That God has finally led you home. I love you for your unconditional ways And for the thoughtful things you do, But most of all, I love you Mom, Just because you’re you. A mother you are, you’ll remain ‘til the end, A wonderful person…a true best friend.

Acknowledgment

During these trying hours, the presence of friends has been one of our sustaining elements. Your prayers have increased our faith. Your words have encouraged our sad hearts. Your presence has given us an arm to lean on. Your food has helped us to maintain our strength, the fragrance of flowers, the thought of every card, the visits and phone calls added a touch of beauty to a setting that was full of gloom. Because of you, the burden that is heavy is lighter now. May God Bless Each of You — The Family
