‘MATH EVANGELIST’ GREG TANG VISITS LOWER SCHOOL The Episcopal Collegiate Lower School was pleased to welcome Greg Tang as a special guest on May 6 and 7. Mr. Tang is well-known among educators for his passion for math. With degrees from Harvard and NYU, Tang refers to himself as a sort of ‘math evangelist.’ At a parent workshop May 6 in the Braunfisch-Stella Boyle Smith Library, Tang talked to parents about creative ways to foster computation and mental math skills and abstract thinking needed for higher math. Tang is the author of eight books, including the New York Times bestseller, The Grapes of Math. He is also the creator of Kakooma, a series of fun math puzzles that are designed to strengthen computation and mental math skills. Our Lower School students, parents, faculty and staff were so enriched by Mr. Tang’s visit. We thank Dr. Missy and Mr. Bobby Graham for underwriting Mr. Tang’s visit.
