We love our churches’ red doors, but how do we do a better job of sharing what’s inside them with others? Episcopal churches in the Diocese of Kansas have so much to offer to a hurting world, but sometimes we just don’t know how or where to start. This year’s Lay Leadership Academy is focused on helping church leaders guide their congregations into an outward focus. A plenary session with Bishop Dean Wolfe will help you connect your local congregation to the diocese and the wider church, and workshops will provide guidance on a variety of helpful topics: Reaching out to youth and young adults Gifts discernment for mission Introduction to Total Ministry Communication tools to help share the Good News Evangelism tools and attitudes Discerning and designing outreach ministries Roundtable discussion for treasurers Roundtable discussion for senior and junior wardens And you know that the best part of any conference is the networking, so come prepared to share and learn from others engaged in leadership ministry in their church. This event is planned for all senior and junior wardens, treasurers, evangelism chairs and youth leaders. New and returning Vestry members and other interested lay leaders also are encouraged to attend. And please make certain those selected at January annual meetings are planning to be there, too. The cost to attend is $25 per person, which includes continental breakfast, lunch and all resource materials. Registration with continental breakfast will begin in the Great Hall (lower level) of Grace Cathedral at 9:30 a.m. Sessions will start at 10 a.m. and will conclude by 3 p.m. Questions?
