The review of the general pharmaceutical legislation

The last comprehensive review of the general pharmaceutical legislation occurred almost 20 years ago, no longer suiting the societal and scientific changes, as well as the new areas of concern such as antimicrobial resistance, environmental challenges and shortages of medicines that have emerged . In that context, the Pharmaceutical Strategy, adopted in November 2020, includes an ambitious agenda of legislative and non-legislative actions to be launched over the coming years as part of its work to create a future-proof and crisis-resilient regulatory framework for the pharmaceutical sector . The latest initiative was launched by the Commission that has published a public consultation on the revision of the EU’s pharmaceutical legislation, which was running for twelve weeks, until 21st December, envisioned to gather the views from both the general public and stakeholders
