LEADER’S FOREWORD In 1998, a small group of visionary and ambitious PT/MC leaders laid the foundations for EPTDA. Two decades on, EPTDA continues to be the leading industry association and one of the most trusted brand names across Europe, the Middle East and Africa among leading Distributors and Manufacturers of the Power Transmission & Motion Control (PT/MC) industry.

EPTDA PRESIDENT Zoltan Arkovics Managing Director BDI Europe Ltd. Hungary

EPTDA EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT Hans Hanegreefs EPTDA Headquarters Belgium

EPTDA MANUFACTURER COUNCIL CHAIR Christoph Martin Managing Director Georg Martin GmbH Germany

2019 is another milestone year for EPTDA, marked by the first year of the association’s ambitious and bold 3-Year Strategic Plan. EPTDA’s ideal future state will be when industry professionals and authoritative bodies proactively seek out EPTDA as a result of its rich networking opportunities, and history of creating knowledge that forms the future of the industry and facilitates the advancement and success of its members. We invite you to join us in this incredible voyage and to take the pulse of our performance over the first nine months. Once again, we have picked an exceptional venue and destination for us to celebrate the strength of our unique community, to do business together, to grow as individuals and to prepare for a great debate on the future of iconic issues facing our businesses – digitalization, artificial intelligence, sustainability, global trade wars, the European narrative and leadership – or lack thereof, potential slowdown of China and much more. Continuing our tradition of a year of business and a year of leisure destination – after London – we are delighted to welcome you to the sunny Canary Island of Tenerife at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Abama, hailed as one of the most respected spots for conferences and events. Choosing a

venue for EPTDA Annual Convention is never out of accident. Every year, with the help of our Board of Directors and the recommendations of our Education & Events Committee, it’s a strategic evaluation of our associations’ goals, price-value proposition of the hotel and destination, connections and transportation, overall experience and facilities, and above all the safety and security of our guests. And Tenerife scored high on all these criteria. Sun and sea are usually not on our obvious needs list – but consider those two cherries on the cake. It’s also not every day that we – as a non-profit organization – can afford to host our events at a Ritz Carlton property. As always, we are striving to deliver a truly memorable event in a stunning environment. Who says that business must always be serious and conducted in the board rooms? It’s the teacher who makes the difference – not the classroom! Tenerife classroom will be led by great thought leaders, innovators and influencers – like Nicklas Bergman, entrepreneur and technology investor, and Ramon Vullings, the creator of Idea-DJ and cross-sector expert. You can count on another successful MD-IDEX meeting sessions, plentiful of formal and informal networking opportunities in a beautiful surrounding, and our signature grand finale event at The Ritz Carlton. Our foundations are strong. Our heritage is unbeatable. Our journey ahead is well planned. Our leaders have the right mindset and skillset to bring our vision to life. Our member companies are committed to a modern and dynamic future of the industry. We are privileged and well-geared to develop, drive and deliver our 3-Year Strategic Plan. Welcome to the 2019 Annual Convention in Tenerife.

Nicklas Bergman has spent the last 25 years working as an entrepreneur and technology investor, mostly focusing on investments and business development in emerging markets, IT software and hardware, instrumentation, nanotechnology, new materials and new media art, currently through more than 10 direct and indirect investments. With the aim to understand where technology is taking us and if we are ready for the upcoming Techstorm, he divides his time between existing and new investments and advising, speaking and writing on the future of technology, business and society. Bergman is strategic advisor to European Commissioner, Carlos Moedas and the European Innovation Council, working on a new innovation strategy for Europe. He is the founding partner of the Techstorm Institute and also Scandinavian representative of the TechCast Technology Think Tank in Washington DC. As a writer, his most recent work is “Navigating the Techstorm – the business impact of technology beyond the hype”, a practical guide in how to analyze technologies, assess business implications and adapt to a new reality. Bergman is also frequently published in major business and technology journals. We’re entering an era in which technology will redefine who we are, and it’s no longer just a question of what it can do for us, but what should we allow technology to do. Technology in itself is pointless, it’s the applications and ability to improve people’s lives that’s important.

EPTDA FOCUS NAVIGATING THE TECHSTORM: THE BUSINESS IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY BEYOND THE HYPE Digitization is highly relevant but only the warm-up. True disruption will come from a combination of new digital technologies such as AI, blockchain and the Internet of Things in combination with a deeper understanding of nanotechnology, neuro technology as well as biotechnology and genetics. In a couple of decades, this will create a world that’s totally different from the one we’re living in today. To be able to capture the business opportunities emerging from new innovations, first you need to analyze technologies to see what’s out there. Further it’s essential to understand the timing perspective: When will a technology break through and reach a mainstream audience? Second, you must assess the business implications from competition, customer and company perspectives. Finally, one has to adapt to a new reality which means new perspectives on leadership, ethics, sustainability and uncertainty.

IdeaDJ, Ramon Vullings helps business leaders bring the outside world in. He advocates why remixing ideas across-sectors and industries is not only smart, but the only strategy to thrive in a highly complex, increasingly competitive and digitally connected world. Ramon Vullings’ 20+ years of experience in creativity and innovation over the five continents, has attracted the interest of NASA, Rabobank, Nike, Volkswagen, TEDx, Siemens, PwC, FloraHolland, Audi and several other global leaders. His down-to-earth personality, beyond-the-obvious thinking, and a great sense of humor helps him connect on a very authentic level with like-minded visionaries and innovators around the world. Ramon’s ways are quite unique. As an ideaDJ, he doesn’t just help leaders THINK differently – he makes them ACT differently. And at occasions, INSTANTLY. From Copy-Paste to Copy-Adapt-Paste, from EGO to LEGO, from logical to illogical yet highly relevant decision-making processes, he really does help find the ideaDJ in all of his audience members by letting them explore and navigate all elements of their inner intellect. Ramon has written three great books on business creativity and cross-industry innovation. He is the Chairman of European Association for Creativity & Innovation (EACI). Besides his work as international speaker and innovation consultant, Ramon is also the Executive Professor at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven and at the Antwerp Management School.

EPTDA FOCUS BE AN IDEADJ & ROCK CROSS-INDUSTRY INNOVATION Ramon will share insights from his latest research focusing on how leaders can leverage the power of combinations in an ever more complex world. Our society and businesses face complicated and 'wicked problems'. Ramon shows how cross-over cooperation between silos and sectors, and cross-industry innovation are crucial to resolve these conflicts. Everyone is capable of using insights from other domains. We humans (customers) have a natural tendency to cross reference ourselves with new boundaries, yet most companies and organizations fail to implement that same natural phenomenon in business. Leaders must take a helicopter view to realize that everything is connected! Ramon will share examples from his own practice and real-life issues with world’s renowned organizations. He will help the audience become an IdeaDJ themselves, and mix things up, for innovative and creative – data-driven – solutions.

B2B PROGRAMS & MEETINGS

MD-IDEX SESSIONS

OPEN MD-IDEX SESSIONS

ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY

MD-IDEX – Manufacturers Distributors Idea Exchange – platform allows the two stakeholders to meet, through a mandatory, pre-organized meeting slot of 30 minutes with each company. The companies can discuss business opportunities in an open, transparent but regulated environment. EPTDA facilitated more than 1,000 business meetings at its last Annual Convention over 1.5 days.

OPEN MD-IDEX are an extension of the formal sessions but more informal and not pre-set. EPTDA has dedicated 2.5 hours to allow members to openly discuss business opportunities, industry trends, personal development, personal challenges, and other issues of mutual concern.

This is a legislative general assembly of EPTDA members to approve the association’s strategy and budget, outlined by the Board of Directors. The general assembly also elects its Board of Directors and vote on any proposed amendments to the EPTDA’s bylaws and/or initiatives. At the forum, EPTDA also recognizes and awards its Best Promoters.

TEIDE NATIONAL PARK Saturday, 28 September 09:30 – 17:00 Sun protection Water Camera Comfortable shoes

Guests will travel to Puerto Colón harbour before boarding an exclusive chartered catamaran. Guests are welcome to take a dip in the water at a nearby cove once the Catamaran has made its way towards the coast. Count on a total sailing time of three timeless hours. Teide National Park is a World Heritage Site (Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO) and the most visited site in Spain. The climb starts at Vilaflor (the highest village in Spain, where the group is driven by bus) and takes guests through a maze of different vegetation types until the coniferous forest is reached lying just before the lava rivers in the park. From inside the park, guests will enjoy the scenery at the Roques de García, lava rivers, lunar landscapes and a unique setting that’s often used by Hollywood producers. Pass through the village of Santiago del Teide among lava rivers and progress towards the lost village of Masca, a village tucked away in an immense green valley. It might remind you of Machu Pichu in Peru. Have a drink at the well-known Tasca before visiting the village boundaries where keen trekkers start into the valley. The tour ends in Los Gigantes, the most amazing cliff area on the Canary Islands.

The trekking lovers will be enchanted to discover this tour taking them through the spectacular scenery of the Teide National Park, so get ready for a wonderful way to experience Tenerife. The Chinyero Trekking tour is intended as a more physically challenging alternative of a traditional bus touring around the beautiful island of Tenerife. Guests will be picked up at Hotel and driven to the Santiago del Teide / Chinyero area bordering the National Park. Guests will undertake a circular route to make their way through volcanic areas and coniferous forest on a 2.5 / 3 hours walk through incredible landscape.
