2017 seems to be shaping up to be a good year so far at EQ. We have continued with our flurry of awards wins and recently received the accolade of Adviser Firm of the Year (UK) at the International Adviser Best Practice Awards. We have additionally been shortlisted for a few more industry awards so stay tuned for further announcements!
Outside of EQ, the headlines are swamped with talk about the looming general election in June and what Brexit will actually look like. Across the Channel, the French election has also been making the news with Emmanuel Macron winning the French presidency by some margin. For some more light-hearted reading, I hope you enjoy this Taking Stock with all the news and updates from the EQ community. As always, I would love to hear your feedback and comments so please do drop me a line at debbie.jukes@eqllp.co.uk.

New client meeting suites We are delighted to announce that we have recently completed the refurbishment of our new meeting suites. These have been built specifically with client meetings in mind. The move also means that our client manager and adviser teams are now in the same building to support effective collaboration. For your next meeting at Equilibrium make sure to check your confirmation for the location of your meeting as it might be in a different building (around 100 metres away) to where you have previously visited.
We welcome two new client managers! A warm welcome to Charlene Love and David West who have recently joined our client manager team. David has previously managed a portfolio of clients’ defined contribution pension schemes and specialised in pension scheme lending, which provided him with valuable insight into retirement planning. Charlene joins us after spending five years in investment management. She holds a degree in International Business, Finance and Economics from The University of Manchester and also holds the CISI Level 7 Diploma in Wealth Management. We are pleased to also welcome Linda Myers to the team as our new office house-keeper.

Well done to The Queen’s School! Our Fantasy Investment League has recently finished with The Queen’s School in Chester. Back in October students who participated were given a crash course on trading and £300 each to spend on stocks and shares. Well done to year 11 student Alex McDonald who won the competition with an impressive 7.35% profit on her investment fund. Alex invested a significant portion of her money in US funds which saw a rally following Trump’s election and formed one of the reasons for her success. The total profit made by all students was doubled by The Equilibrium Foundation to be donated to a charity selected by the school. Students chose to donate the £348 to Young Minds, a charity championing the wellbeing and mental health of young people.
