History of the Croatian money •
Croats had minted replicas of Byzantine coins

In 1102, Croatia entered into alliance with Hungary and then Herceg Andrija minted the silver denar and half – denar and they were called Croatian frisatic
• The most famous Croatian money was banovac (1235. – 1384.) • They were minted from fine silver in the mints in Zagreb and Pakrac
• The most beautiful money were Grochen and Talir
• The first Croatian paper money was the assignat of the City of Pag – 1778.
• 1848. – copper križar and silver forint
The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes • In 1918. the coins denominated at 5, 10 and 25 para depicted the Croatian coat of arms on the reverse
Croatian kuna and lipa
• The first versions of the kuna banknotes were on October 31, 1993. • Animal used for Croatian currency is called kuna and it’s fluffy and cute animal and her’s fur was used for paying taxes • Unlike the middle ages kuna is no longer an animal fur which is used for trading, she is currency.
