Should I bother recycling glass? Recycling glass keeps it out of our trash, avoids costly transportation, and can be used as a substitute for gravel. So keep putting your glass in the recycling bin!

Commercial and Residential Recycling is available from Clear Creek Disposal valley wide! Sun Valley, Ketchum and Hailey Residences can participate in curbside recycling on a weekly basis by utilizing the blue bin included in your residential services billed by each City. Residents in the remaining areas of the Wood River Valley may choose to subscribe to Clear Creek’s recycling services.

Scrap Metal Plastics #1-7 With a few exceptions, all plastics are recyclable. Caps are okay!. NO plastic wrap, plastic bags, buckets, or bottles that contained toxins, motor oil, or antifreeze. Please rinse out food.

Phone Books & Paperback Books Remove plastic bags from new phone books. No spiral bound phone books, no hardback books.

Magazines & Catalogues Mixed Paper Now you can recycle all your paperboard items (without corrugation), including cereal boxes, shoe boxes, paper six-pack cartons. White or pastel copier paper and index cards. White and pastel envelopes with or without windows. Computer paper, fax paper, carbonless paper forms. Manila and bleached file folders. Staples are OK. NO post-it notes, butcher paper, deep-tone and fluorescent papers, catalogs, paper plates or napkins, brown bags (see cardboard), or construction paper.

Used Oil, Antifreeze, Flammable Liquids

Tires $1.25 per passenger car/pickup tire without rims; $2.50 w/rim; $10 truck tires; no implement tires. Tire Amnesty Days (free disposal of passenger and pickup tires) are held twice a year, first weekend in May and October. Please contact Southern Idaho Solid Waste at 208-432-9082 or visit www.sisw.org for more information.

Yard Waste $10 per ton. Grass clippings, leaves, branches (no longer that 8 feet long and 18 inches in diameter). NO noxious weeds, dirt, or rock mixed in with these items.

Inert Demolition Waste $20 per ton for inert materials only. Wood, dirt, rocks asphalt, hard plastic tubing. NO paper or fabric materials, sheetrock, drywall, carpet, insulation, etc.

Metal car parts and whole cars, aluminum siding, sheet metal, etc. No charge.

4th Street Recycling Center in Ketchum LDS Church parking lot at the East end of 4th St. Accepts cardboard (phone books seasonally).

Always open, No Charge. 115 S Main St # H Recycling bins are located on the alley side. Accepts CFL’s, aluminum, plastic, glass, mixed paper, and newspaper. Due to the heavy volume of use, please crush plastic and take recyclables out of any bag that you carried them in.

America Recycles Day November 15 is America Recycles Day. Communities all over the country participate in an awareness event about reducing, reusing and recycling as well as recyclable-content products. For listings of events, login to www.americarecyclesday.org DID YOU KNOW? Your recycling participation contributes to our average 16% recycling rate and helps boost our total recycling revenues to over $126,440 on average! Compact Fluorescent (CFL’s) Bulbs are 75% more energy efficient than traditional bulbs, last many times longer, and can save you money. However, they do have a small amount of mercury in them and need to be recycled. You can recycle them at the ERC, Hailey and Bellevue City Halls.
