design is my passion because it allows me to create spaces that allow people “toInterior live better. Whether that is through learning, healing, worshipping, or any other daily task, being able to impact others in a positive way is what drives me. This field of study has not only allowed me to express myself, but has also taught me different ways to problem solve and work with others. I am always looking to learn new skills and can not wait to see where this career choice leads me.

This concept was created with the idea that as clients of Face it TOGETHER grow and 1 overcome their addictions, they will thrive and learn how to live the best life possible. The concept model starts with a single 2 rock representing the dark lonely place most addicts are at when starting rehab. As the model grows, the materials form more of their own identy and thrive more, a similar process 3 that addicts go through when recovering from addiction. This concept model helped determine the organic curved walls throughout the space and the movement that the users will experience. 9' - 6 1/2"

Kitchen/Dining Room

The Johnson’s are looking to expand their kitchen and make it a nicer space for entertaining. They also need another bedroom that can be used for a play or television room for their kids while they’re young and can transition into a master bedroom as they get older. They are a modern, young couple and love contemporary design.

“Emcompassing Space to Create a Seamless Design” was the concept used to design this space. Since the couple wanted an open floor plan, the spaces needed to be defined by something other than walls. The solution was to use a variety materials and casework to encompass different spaces.

The Caxton is a restaurant that needed a major facelift to be brought into modern times. This project included a lot of research into restaurant design and the existing restaurant location. There was also a focus on spatial planning and different table sizes to accommodate for a wide variety of party sizes and allow for the most customers possible

The concept statement for this project is “On the Grid. Being that the Caxton is located in London, a very modern, contemporary place, this restaurant needed an update to be brought back onto the grid of high-end design. The placement of the tables, ceiling elements, and major walkways in the Caxton are all based on a grid system.

This is phase one of a two phase project. In six parallel walls, students had six equally dimensioned pieces of paper that represented walls. Each wall had a line on a grid and the walls could be manipulated in any way as long as each wall touched it’s original line in one spot. Students were given six spatial requirements to focus on in this project: hierarchy, orientation, place, passage, and entry. Through many iterations, students reached a final model which will then be used to inspire their retail space in phase two. Final Model

This space has been designed for the art work of Gabriel Dawe with the concept “Plexus No. 136”. A plexus is an intricate network or weblike formation, like this artwork. The word plexus is also used because Gabriel Dawe names all of his sring pieces “Plexus No. ...”. The number 136 comes from the building number.

This space needs to be designed as a living and work space while also analyzing the chosen artists style and needs. The space must also be designed to have a mezzanine. Andy Warhol was the artist chosen for this project. His space was created to be bright, lively, and made for entertainment. There is use of repetition in the design that was inspired by Warhol himself.

HAND RENDERING S e c o n d Ye a r

As a sophomore interior design student one of the first skills we were equipped with was the use of rendering with photoshop, sketchup, and other mixed media such as marker and colored pencil. These were my first iterations with these skills.

As a freshman at South Dakota State University I studied architecture. In class we learned how to draft and model. We studied two small South Dakota towns, visited them, measured the streets and buildings, and then brought our findings back to studio to create the two models shown here. The model to the left is a 2-D replica of the small town of Milbank and the photo below is the 3-D model of Webster, South Dakota.

Chica go Tr av el Stud y•Summer 2014

10.1

In the Summer of 2014 our interior design class took a travel study trip to Chicago. While there we saw Frank Lloyd Wright’s Home, The Farnsworth House, the Bean, and many other historical architectural features that the city of Chicago treasures. We were also able to attend NeoCon which was a great opportunity for meeting new people and seeing what the interior design industry all entails.

Jamaican Mission Trip•Spring Br eak 2015 Over Spring Break of my Sophomore year of college I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Harmons, Jamaica with South Dakota State University’s Fellowship Of Christian Athletes. While there we build two houses for two different families in Harmons and served the people with Jesus’ Gospel. It was a life changing experience I will always treasure.
