The trams are narrow gauge (2’9”), purpose built by the company with designs based on some of the heritage trams that served our towns and cities in the first half of the last century. Tick them off as you spot them on the checklist below.

Car 2 1964 Built in 1964 at Eastbourne. Based on the London Metropolitan Tramways type A design.

Car 4 1961 Built in 1961 at Eastbourne. Based on the famous Blackpool ‘Open Boat’ cars.

Children and families can enjoy a tram ride, activities plus there will be the chance to see their favourite character Peppa Pig, who will be appearing at intervals throughout the day.

Car 6 built in 1954 and Car 7 built in 1958 at Barnet. Both are based on the ex Bournemouth open toppers of the Llandudno & Colwyn Bay system.

Built in 2002-7 at Bolton and Seaton. Hybrid design based on elements of the old Plymouth and Blackburn trams. The low floor centres are wheelchair accessible.

Built in 1968 at Eastbourne. The first car to be built for the Seaton gauge of 2’9”. This was the first tram to go pink in support of Breast Cancer Care. It was relaunched in Spring 2012 in Bristol Livery.

C Customers are reminded that the car park at Seaton is a Pay & Display, run by East Devon District Council and there P may be limited parking here from Spring 2014 due to the construction of the new visitor centre. Car 12 1966 Built in 1966 at Eastbourne. Originally an enclosed single-decker, it was rebuilt as an open topper in 1980, and again in 1999 to resemble the London ‘Feltham’ trams of the 1930s.

AAccess for All

Folding pushchairs and wheelchairs can be accommodated on most trams. Some tramcars have space for non-folding wheelchair or mobility scooter users. At least one of these accessible trams runs each hour but please call us to check on running times.

Child Fares Children under 16 accompanied by an adult travel at half the adult fare price. Our best value fares: A family of two adults and two children can travel for as little as £30.00 all day on all trams. Children under 3 travel free with an adult.

All Day Explorer Tickets On arrival, we will issue a ticket & wrist band valid for all day travel on any tram at any time for as many journeys as you wish. This is the best way to explore the Jurassic Coast at Seaton, Colyford, Colyton and the Axe Estuary with all the amazing wildlife it contains, as you can ws hop on and off at any station. Prepared to be frightened witless by gruesome goings on along the Axe Estuary and at the haunted Victorian station in Colyton where the population of this small hamlet turn into the undead on certain nights of the year. Colyford Although technically a borough, Colyford was granted a charter by Edward I in 1341 due to its accessibility to the River Axe which allowed sea-going vessels as far as Coly Bridge. Today it is a picturesque village with a long main street and beautiful character thatched houses. Each year in September on the Saturday closest to Michaelmas Colyford holds its annual medieval Goose Fair.

Situated at the mouth of the River Axe, overlooking the magnificent blue waters of Lyme Bay, Seaton offers a wonderful pebble beach with safe swimming areas and a haven for yachtsmen at the idyllic harbour at Axmouth. The South West Coast Path takes you along a magical cliff walk to Lyme Regis, just 6 miles away.

Driver’s Eye Experience FROM £20, GUEST £7.50 A Driver’s Eye Experience gives you a taste of driving one our tramcars. For just £20 (£30 return) take the controls for a trip from Seaton Terminus to our half way station at Colyford. This trip gives you approximately 20 minutes of tram driving and these sessions are available every Sunday in the Blue service timetable and 21st September to 19th October between 10.20am & 4.00pm. These sessions do not have to be pre-booked but it’s best to book your slot in advance to avoid disappointment.

Join us for a ride through two beautiful nature reserves, Seaton Marshes and Colyford Common, next to the glorious River Axe estuary, which plays host to an everchanging selection of birds through the seasons. Seaton Tramway’s bird watching trips give you exclusive access to remote parts of the valley where you are likely to see between 30 and 50 different species of bird during your 2 hour trip. He is a volunteer warden on the wetlands and committee member of Axe Vale & District Conservation Society.

Half Day Tram Driving Lesson £150, GUEST £15 (MAX. 3 PERSONS) Starting at 9.50am or 1.00pm, this course lasts for approximately 3 hours. The course offers two round trips with 12 miles of driving and a visit to our Riverside Depot and workshops. The course ends with refreshments of tea/ coffee at our Tramstop Café and includes an Explorer ticket for participants to ride on our trams before or after their lesson.

Full Day Tram Driving Lesson £300, GUEST £30 (MAX. 6 PERSONS) Start time 9.50am and finishing at approximately 4.20pm. New and improved for 2014, the course now consists of over 5 return journeys, varying from complete journeys to short workings and lasting the length of a Seaton Tramway driver’s shift. You will complete over 30 miles of driving and can visit our Riverside Depot and workshop or trade this for a bit more time behind the controls of one of our unique tramcars. The day course includes morning coffee/tea, lunch from a selected menu and on completion of the course a well-deserved Devon Clotted Cream Tea, followed by a relaxing tram ride back to Seaton.

Tram Driving Breaks FROM £140 PER PERSON Why not stay the night in one of our specially selected partner 4* B&Bs with lunch, two course dinner, bed & breakfast included as well as a morning or afternoon’s tram driving course? Prices are per person based on 1 night’s t’’s B&B in a twin or double en suite room,, 1 two course lunch and dinner. The single supplement is £75.
