• The Ideal Series celebrates the art of legendary equine artist Orren Mixer and his famed “ideal” horse breed paintings.

• Mixer’s painting of “The Appaloosa” was commissioned by the Appaloosa Horse Club and was publicly unveiled in 1981. It is still on display today in the ApHC’s offices in Moscow, Idaho.

• The painting depicts a handsome chestnut blanket Appaloosa stallion standing watch over a herd of mares and foals amid a pastoral landscape.

• In recognition of his work for this colorful breed, Mixer was inducted into the ApHC’s Hall of Fame in 1998.
