As part of my undergraduate studies, I became more exposed to urban planning and urban design, two subjects that I hope to continue learning about. I also have an interest in sustainable design. As a former Environmental Studies minor, I think it is important to understand the way our natural ecosystems work, and the effects our built environment has on these ecosystems. Ultimately, I hope to combine both my passion for the environment and architecture in my professional career.

MULTI-USE HOUSING 11TH AND MASS ST
ARCH 502 Design Studio | Summer 2019 Located in downtown Lawrence, KS, this project is a multi-use development consisting of a commercial space at the street level, an outdoor public space, and 30 apartment units. (Ten 2-bedroom and Twenty studio units). The project strives to encapsulate the upbeat and kinetic energy of the surrounding Lawrence neighborhood and create a space for all members of the community to enjoy. The design process was composed of a series of smaller assignments without an understanding of what the final result was going to be. (1. landscape - this ended up being the park-like outdoor space. 2. wall- this would become the central corridor and major structural element of the building. 3. repeating modules- these would comprise the individual units.) This design process forced me to think about how I was going to connect all three smaller elements into one cohesive design. Programs used: Rhino, Revit, Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lumion

KANSAS SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND RENOVATION AND ADDITION
ARCH 508 Design Studio | Fall 2019 RENOVATION - The primary objective of this project was to activate a previously underutilized space in Brighton Recreation Center. My goal was to create a program that would emphasize learning and making, while also creating a welcoming and interesting space for students, faculty, family, and members of the community to come and gather. Programs used: Rhino, Revit, Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. Lumion ADDITION - 5,000 square foot Black Box Theatre which can be adaptable for a variety of different uses. The main goal of the project was to create an interesting space that attracted members of the community while also maintaining student safety and privacy on campus. The project looked to blend in with the existing topography of the hillside and to complement the architectural language of Brighton Recreation Center. Programs used: Rhino, Revit, Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lumion

DEMONSTRATION PAVILION YOUTHBUILD KCK - MODEL BLOCK PROJECT
4
ARCH 509 Design Studio | Spring 2020 This project was done in collaboration with YouthBuild KCK, an organization that teaches young people construction skills, all while helping to rebuild communities. The Model Block Project, spearheaded by YouthBuild KCK, is a block of multiple lots that YouthBuild is rebuilding with a focus on education, awareness, and engagement. Studio 509 worked in collaboration to help design a pavilion that would act as both an entrance to the community as well as demonstrate the tools being replicated in the Model Block Project homes. During the initial years of construction, the pavilion will be used as a demonstration pavilion. However, once the neighborhood has been established, the pavilion will serve as a place for community and social interactions like BBQ’s, birthday parties, and countless other neighborhood activities. Whatever form these events take, the hope is that this pavilion will continue to serve members of the community for years to come, as well as spur ongoing development within the community. Programs used: Revit, Sketchup, Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lumion Team Members: Darius Mathius (3D Modeling/Detailing) Eric Perchiazzi (3D Modeling/Detailing)Emma VandeWater (Renders/ 3D Modeling) Hannah Nehmer (Diagramming/Research) Erin Ott (Diagramming/ Research/Renders)

MULLTI-USE HOUSING LAWRENCE, KS
ARCH 608 Design Studio | Fall 2020 100,000 square foot multi-generation housing complex. The project looks to create a community of different demographics by offering multiple unit types (1 BR, 2 BR, 3 BR, and ADA). The building offers amenties such as a gym, yoga studio, children’s area, game room, lounges, study spaces, and outdoor areas like seating, fire pits, and a dog park. The building strives to be a place where people truly can live, work, and play. While social interaction is encouraged, personal space and wellbeing is also prioritized. Another important aspect of the building are the sustainable strategies integrated into the building through water retention systems, solar panels, recycling, native plants, etc. These strategies not only look to minimize the buildings impact on its environment, but also serve as educational opportunities for the residents who live there. Programs used: Revit, Sketchup, Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lumion

PHOTOGRAPHY
One of my favorite hobbies is photography. It allows me to capture some of the most random and wonderful moments in my life. The following photos, in no particular order, represent some of my favorite things. The formation of clouds in the sky, the first blooms of spring, vacationing in the mountains, architectural sights in Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan, or the patterns of a building facade and how the sun and shadows interact. These photos represent things, places, and moments that have and continue to bring me peace and happiness.
