Fifty Years Paraquat

Justice will only exist where those not affected by injustice are filled with the same amount of indignation as those offended. Plato

Human Rights Day 2011

With great sadness we announce that because of Syngenta’s irresponsible corporate policy, we mourn

Hundreds of Thousands of Victims of Paraquat the lethal pesticide of the Basel-based manufacturer of agrochemicals. Paraquat has been on the market for 50 years. It has been banned in Switzerland and the European Union for years, and for good reasons. But in developing countries, thousands of people are poisoned every year, since protective clothing is either not available, unaffordable, or unwearable due to the climate. Syngenta knows this, and pushes the sale of its toxic best-seller in the Global South nonetheless. The Swiss corporation thus violates human rights, valuing profits higher than the health and life of small farmers and plantation workers.

Instead of flowers remember the victims. Further information at www.stop-paraquat.net
