“A great building must begin with the unmeasurable, must go through measurable means when it is being designed and in the end must be unmeasurable.”

Description Thriving Montessori School is to reach a more optimised educational model for today by considering the phenomenon of the last century in a historical perspective By putting the events of the previous century in historical context, Thriving Montessori School hopes to create an educational model that is more suited for today. A lot of times, the history of educational facilities is written as an architectural backgorund, highlighting notable architects and structures. However, the underlying philosophy of schooling has a similar impact on building typologies as much as technological developmet. In the last century, many different ideas have been developed against classical education, notably the Montessori method. This review focuses mainly on Montessori education and how it can be developed and used more actively today. In this context, it refers to historical references and educational structures. In this way, it will be witnessed how both architecture affects education and the ideas on education affect architecture. The Montessori programme is presented as a more optimised educational model within a new educational structure

Description Offices: The new office buildings mediates moprhologically between the existing buildings by interlocking two volumes which creat a gradation, both in height and in depth. Apartments: The residential building on Lützowufer closes a vacant lot in the second row between a 19th centruy commercial building and a future apartment house. Similar to the extarnal appearance of the office buildings in the first row , both facade and interior are characterized by sober modernity. Conversion: Today´s Carl Duisberg House was built in 1876 as an administrative building and was badly damaged in World War II. After the building had been partially used for instruction, we were commissioned with a full refurbishment and transformation into a modern office building.

Anton Chekhov, Ward No.6 ...These nails, with their points upwards, and the fence, and the lodge itself, have that peculiar, desolate, God-forsaken look which is only found in our hospital and prison buildings... The proposal for the hospital, whose current state is not different from Anton Chekhov’s Ward No. 6

The effect of Architecture on Human Mind and Psychology Mental and nervous diseases hospitals need serious reform both in conceptual and architectural sense. The aim in this project is to break the ideas and dogmas that society perceives as normal and natural, or at least to question these dogmas. Although the mission in this project is seen as inaccessible, the main thing is to make them feel that mental and nervous patients are not in prison. The human mind is the most mysterious in the universe. The mind which is a subject that philosophers before and after Socrates constantly but it still preserves this mysterious side. Current State & Proposal In psychiatric architecture, which has a history of hundreds of years, there are various typologies from many different cultures and geographies; however, both in Turkey and in different geographies, this issue has been poured into some templates and stuck in repetitions. When it’s considered the issue especially on the current situation of Erenköy Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Hospital, it can be seen the seriousness of the situtation closely. Unfortunately, the hospital, which is located in a magnificent nature, remained far away from its potentials. In its core, the project land, which is a natural wonder with the atmosphere by the aged pine trees, has unfortunately become indistinguishable from the prison with the repetitions of the past. It’s aimed to create a campuss atmosphere with the aid of public usage . Buildings into capmuss communicate with the nature more, with courtyards and protected gardens and it’s tried to not design ordinary corridors, that rooms look each other. The rooms comminate with natural environment instead of the gloomy corridors. It’s also aimed to supply ‘occupational treatment.’
