trends in the workplace Work/life boundaries are becoming blurred, with the emphasis on work. Technology permits much work to be accomplished any time, any where. Teamwork is increasingly the norm and the teams are engaged in complex, fastmoving assignments with challenging deadlines. These changes impact the how designers and employers approach space. While SG&A is well versed in current market place trends, we are not tied to those trends. Since our focus is you, our client, we listen to your needs and we work with you to assess your past, present and future. We use that information to formulate a design solution that is right for you. Every client has a different culture and as such, every trend is not necessarily appropriate for every client.

Although we have a particular affinity for working with companies and organizations that are “on the move that is where the similarity between our clients end. Whether they are venture capital firms, healthcare service providers, research organizations, manufacturers, software engineers, defense contractors or law firms and whether they are going commercial, going public or going international, our design teams create environments that work best for each unique company and respond accordingly to what they do and how they do it.
Our work is inspired and informed by the unique ambitions of each client and, because each client is different, our response is distinct each and every time. Our creativity is enhanced, never hampered, by the realities of aggressive schedules and tight budgets, codes, statutes, financial goals and scheduling needs that are at the core of all we plan, all we design.

we space vs. me space project type: Corporate Headquarters area: 30,000 Square Feet
Black Duck Software’s new office space is all about the employees. Finishes, furnishings, color, and graphics became the perfect platform to express the duality of their brand and its personality. In an effort to encourage collaboration and foster a sense of community, the design team carefully strategized the balance of “we space” versus “me space.” By co-locating the game room, café and meeting areas with the main reception zone, SG&A was able to provide a centralized hub of activity for breaks, collaboration and dining. To balance the focused nature of their engineers’ work with the fun and playful personality of their brand culture, interactive display shelves backed with nature photography became a home for their signature rubber duckies. Similarly, custom wallcoverings encrypt a clever story about the company’s history with a stream of binary code.
