Hello there! I am Ayşe Esma Sayıntürk, who graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University, Department of Industrial Design. I’m a designer that has always aspired to do better than my potential. With every design I again discover who I am and find myself. I believe that design, which is a phenomenon in every aspect of our lives, can be a bridge between people and make society better. As a creative designer, I mainly specialized myself in the field of product design. In addition to this, I developed myself in the fields of graphic design and visual design, and revealed my awareness of design.
Everybody gravitate towards some objective in life, I found myself after I gravitated towards design.

An unusual tableware that will create a more universal, experiential, useful and awareness oriented tableware that will appeal to everyone who likes to cook and eat in accordance with Fusion Fine Dining, which is born as a new food culture, by combining and reconstructing different cultures. Eating is a biological action, but people’s behavior when consuming food takes food beyond being a biological action, allowing them to enjoy the food. Differences in eating movement make an action that affects the human body both psychologically and physiologically into cultural phenomena. Cultural awareness has begun to reproduce itself in a globalizing world. The dice between cultures and geographies, between the old and new forms of existence, has begun to evolve. With the harmony of flavors and aromas created on the tableware, people have become interested in exploring another culinary culture. As a result of the people who like to discover new and untested, and who want to be aware of different culinary cultures the work in the field of ‘Fusion Fine Dining’, which corresponds to the phrase ‘experiential eating’, has started to increase. Thus, table manners and culinary culture, which are different in every society, have been blended and restructured to become a single food culture that gives information about countries and lives.

Fusion cuisine is cuisine that combines elements of different culinary traditions that originate from different countries, regions, or cultures.
Fine dining is about professional cooking and professional service, everything will give comfort and sometimes even surprise guests. This is related to a warm-up and private environment where the staff normally offer the customer something they were not accustomed to or eaten before. It is important to impress the customer and create unique experiences for them. A tasting menu is a collection of several dishes in small portions, served by a restaurant as a single meal.

One side of this cutlery set is designed as usual, the other side is designed as chopstick. So all kinds of earthy food can be eaten.
Single morsel tool; some foods need to be thrown in one morsel, the size of these foods is changing. That’s why these tools were designed with double-sides in mind.

BOTH, a stackable and portable set that can appeal to anyone who likes to eat cheese and wine together, is a product that provides comfort both while using and not being used. The problem is that people have difficulty in stocking their pieces after using fondue. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of storage in every kitchen. That is why people who can not get a fondue set in their homes are in majority and increasing. The solution was I designed a fondue set with a glass material. All parts intertwine when not in use so it makes a lot of profit from the ground. Another feature brought by the stackable feature is that the product is portable.
BOTH | Concept
“More attention is being given to food and cooking than ever before. Cooking shows are replacing talk shows on TV, food bloggers now write bestsellers and the kitchen has become a hub of activity at home. While the fondue culture is a culture of private restaurants, this culture has now moved into houses.

Anything could be/is a toy. For that reason, defining and designing toys and/or is an endless effort if not unnecessary. Playthings and playscapes contain peculiar information about the states of humankind. This project aims for the evaluation and design of playthings and playscapes in their widest sense, not as products but as concepts. They reveal their genuine possibilities of form and function when they are critically assessed as artefacts initiating play behaviour, instead of certain archetypes. Defining the design needs not simply from a pragmatic perspective, enables the designer to escape from categorical/paradigmatic congestions, thus by eluding the conventional rituals and easy formulas of professionalism, the physical and mental space of a more unique and unconstrained design activity could be expanded.

My goal is to design a kitchen appliance that will work in the kitchen and solve the challenges I have chosen. It is a product that makes the making of salads more practical and easy, to minimize the difficulty of this action. In addition to being a THOK salad maker, it is also used as a lunch-box with the change of mechanism cover. This is a project that investigates changes in people’s food-related lifestyles and creates new product ideas to comply with these changes. For this project, I first start with a market research that identifies SocialEconomicTechnological (SET) factors on health and food issues to find a Product Opportunity Gap (POG).
THOK

Heater with sensor that detects movements around it. Indoor product.

The problem; Infrared heaters act like the sun, as in they transmit heat via light. Light energy is very powerful and has the potential to inflict serious harm to objects around it. Creatures that unknowingly comes close to these heaters (eg: babies, kids, animals...) can be seriously harmed. These heaters can also cause damage in the long run, to objects that are in close proximity. This product, that is used in many houses, can cause irreversible damage. If we can prevent this from happening we can use these heaters confortably and decrease the possible damage. Solution; If the temperature of the heater reduces in case of any approaching occurs, the danger can be prevented in some ways. In order to do this, the objects standing by the heater or approaching towards should be detectable, and because of this detection the product should act on its own. This action can be provided with the PIR cencors. Thus, the objects or people approaching the product can be detected by the PIR cencor and the cencor sends the detection ti PCB. Then, the temperature of the resistans which is near to the approaching objects can be reduced. The danger can be prevented in this way.

Craft neighbourhoods in Istanbul bear a great potential for understanding the practice of crafts, its techniques and materials used. Originating from this idea, Design studio course at İstanbul Bilgi University Department of Industrial Design aims to expand the borders of design studio and relocate it from campus to the city since 2013. The studio is based on the over ten-year experience, vision and knowhow of Made in Şişhane project about the region and the crafts practice there. During the studio, students as “apprentices“ employ participatory observation in craft workshops and experience a different mode of production first-hand. Materials and techniques used in the workshop, knowledge of the masters; social and cultural relations, components of the craft network and everyday life in the craft neighbourhood are important components to the design process.
TEMPus
In Spring 2019, the second collection of Objects of Şişhane brand focused on developing and producing Sound and Light Objects in collaboration with craft workshops of Şişhane and Galata.
Sound objects, everyday objects that associate a practicalutilitarian function, like an alert’, announcement, awareness, informing, directing, signaling, mood-making, ambiance-making...’ Made in Şişhane Project is developed with the motivation of urgent need for a new argument and vision that are based on bottom-up approaches for safe-guarding the craft neighbourhoods instead of the top-down urban transformation process in Istanbul since 2006. Studio-Sustain series adopts the idea that design education and practice would be determined by the people, situations, necessities, needs of real life.
