Dog Days of summer are upon us, I hope you are all enjoying the course, pools, and events at Black Hawk! As you come in over the next few months, don’t forget to invite your friends and family with you We want your club to be an extension of your life: a place where you come to celebrate, relax or do business!

As you know, Black Hawk Country Club has been the home for our business members to entertain and build client relationships in a peaceful and fun atmosphere! I believe it is safe to say, it’s hot! Summer has arrived in full force

During the month of July, we will be applying our second summer pre and post emergent application to the golf course This is a wall-to-wall application, excluding greens With the timing of this application, the heat, and the products used, it is normal to see some bronzing following the application However, it will not linger too long, and we will grow right out of it returning to our normal green color

Our next scheduled applications of nutritional and PGR products to tees and fairways will be applied during the second and third weeks of the month We will be adding wetting agents in with these sprays throughout the summer to try and help keep the plant hydrated during the stressors of summer

Projects continue to be in full swing. The renovation of the bridge on hole #12, the installation of a new bulkhead on hole #14, and the installation of the Sox lake bank erosion control system on hole #17 are all taking place in July. Other projects scheduled to take place this month include landscape enhancements to the pool entrance walkway area, the installation of new flag poles and the renovation of the circular island at the entrance to the clubhouse, and landscape enhancements to the six small islands in the parking lot.

Have you heard about The Game? This NEW event is a great way to meet other members and get involved. Mark your calendars for July 13 because you don’t want to miss The Game (Entry Fee: $54 per person)

Looking for a new date night idea? Come join us for a Couple’s Twilight evening on July 21st This month’s theme is Patriotic Trivia You and your sweetheart will play 9 holes of golf, and then enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while competing against other couples in a round of Patriotic Trivia! (Entry Fee: $75 per person)

Celebrate the summer season at our Summer Sizzler on July 29th This 2 person scramble event tends to get a little whacky and you never know what new and crazy ideas we might throw at you!
